Women Metalheads Rise Up

GALLHAMMER - all female band from Japan that plays a mix of Crust Punk, Black and Doom Metal. "Gloomy lights" is their 1st album (they have two more and some demos, EPs, splits), inactive since 2013.

MAGDALENE JU-NEN - all female Doom Metal band from Japan. Vocals are in Japanese. All their releases are on bandcamp, YT mostly has only live recordings.

SWANS, Daughters, Impending Doom, For Today, Silent Planet, The Order of Elijah, Wage War, Drown in Sulphur, Lorna Shore, Mick Gordon's shit, Meshuggah, Gojira, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Deathspell Omega. I collect whatever music helps most with what I'm writing at the time.

I love Tool and RATM too, but you can't say that without sounding like an asshole. When I was a sulky teen, I liked KoRn and Otep a lot.

Does Black Midi count? This song goes hard toward the end.

In terms of hard/aggressive stuff, I'll listen to things that don't fit on the mantle of metal, such as Hellfish and various Deathstep artists. I had Hellfish playing during Sekiro and I could clear his first phase without taking a lick of damage. I wish I kept practicing that, haha.

Annoying as fuck, but slaps when you're working out or fighting a difficult boss in a game.

Celldweller mets the criteria, as does RUSHKID and Black Tiger Sex Machine, though they're not quite metal. KROWW, Evilwave, and various other Deathstep artists have produced absolute bangers.

Whoops. I forgot to add actual contributions.

The last one's Psychostick. They're a comedic metal band and they're hilarious.

I unironically like Batuska, whatever version, as they helped bring me to the Byzantine Rite, as unintended as it was. And OMG, you can give me all the scouter stickers you want, but the man in this video is just insanely, can't even tell you, yes female coomring here, hot. I would bear all his children, holy shit.

The same dude who used to blast these two bands, was HUGE into Opeth - we used to joke about him carving "STILL LIFE" and "BLACKWATER PARK" all across his chest.
I fuckimg love My Dying Bride and Opeth. I’ve gotten everybody I know to listen to Beneath the Mire and the Grand Conjuration
Very good thread idea

also lol

this guy gets it
See if more men were like this feminism would be a dead movement
Ok I’ve already posted about this song in the man hate thread but I fucking love Swans so much it’s unreal the first time I heard Freak it gripped me like a vice. That song is so true, it’s so strong, it’s so powerful and ugly and offensive. I love how unhinged Gira’s voice is here and I want the lyrics carved all over my body. I’ve never heard a song that truly encapsulates my feelings so cathartically. This song makes me want to go into the woods and scream at the top of my lungs. It makes me want to take a hammer and smash the world into pieces

So my interest in WWI metal is because I read a book about the war called A World Undone and holy shit was it blackpilling. Just that war should have never happened and everything about it was needless and tragic. I used to have this pic as my pfp:

CfJDnahWsAAxT-f-1579601176.jpg

I have no idea why faggots are trying to watermark a 100+ year old public domain picture, but I can't find the old one on my computer. These women are doing it because there is no one else to do it. All the men are dead all the horses and mules are dead. Just you can't wrap your mind around what happened there and for no reason.

In English, think one of the better songs is this one. It is based on the book All Quiet on the Western Front (Im Westen nichts Neues):

Auf Deutsch is Kanonenfieber's Die Feuertaufe (Baptism of Fire)

Oh and for our local Turkroaches like @lolcow yoghurt this is a very good song:

Through the night
I hear war-cries
Shots and whistles of yataghans
Here comes the 57th infantry Regiment
Lead by Ataturk

Our ANZAC Corps
Was entrenched at the Gallipoli coast
Ottoman machine-guns
Met us with fire
We did not expect
Such furious defense
So far away from home
We died
At the nomads land

Back into the sea
Away from the coast
Back into the sea
Drop the gun and run

We thought they were barbarians
But encountered
Well-trained and organized imperial army
With cannons and machine-guns
How can we win
When their commander
Ordered them:

I do not order to fight
I order you to die
In the time which passes
Until we die
Other troops
Can come forward
And take our places
Inshalah!

(Ben size savaşmayı emretmiyorum
ölmeyi emrediyorum
Biz ölene kadar
Geçen zamanda
Yeni birlikler
ilerleyip
Yerimizi alabilir
İnşallah!)

Ottoman rise!
Inshalah!

I wouldn't call myself a metalhead, it's stolen valor because I'm more into classical music and folk music, but I'd say metal was my first musical love and Iron Maiden still remains my favorite band of all time. I've always been really into history and I find that there's a lot of interesting, compelling tales in metal and it's been a huge draw. One of my biggest regrets was refusing an offer my dad made me to watch Dio in concert (he was going with my godfather and uncle and asked if I wanted to come with) because I was a retarded teenager and really wanted to hang out with my friends that weekend. Turns out it was his last time touring our city, he retired and died almost right after.
I was really into Megadeth as a teen too, I remember when that retard Kimveer Gill from VampireFreaks went for a school shooting in a college and killed a woman in Montreal, he had cited Megadeth as an inspiration and it really upset Mustaine because he had especially liked performing À Tout Le Monde there since the crowd was mostly francophone and chimped out at the French chorus.
I like Nightwish mostly because I find Marco Hietala's range impressive and his vocal timbre haunting, and I like all of his projects just because I can't get enough of his vocals, but I ended up liking all the Nightwish eras just through occasionally letting a non-Marco song play.
Other bands I've historically absolutely loved and have a soft spot for still- Voivod, Children of Bodom, Helloween, Rhapsody of Fire because of their Christopher Lee intro and then Charlemagne because of Christopher Lee, and Wintersun. There's definitely more, and you can see where my love for classical and folk informs my love for metal rather than the other way around, but ya.

Obviously not a woman, but I do support women in Metal. Metal bands with women that are actually based: Girlschool, Malteze, Rock Goddess, ZnöWhite, Sacrilege, Original Sin, Hellion, Meanstreak, Détente, Bitch (overrated, but okay), Cauchemar, Mythic, Ice Age (Sweden), Sentinel Beast, Sigh, Chastain, The Gathering, Грай [Grai]

@AmberHeardSupporter, if you like Arch Enemy, you might like the shortlived Pittsburgh Death/Doom band Mythic:

My intent isn't to make this some gay hugbox and I absolutely understand that metal is primarily a male interest. But there are some women who genuinely enjoy it and not because they want dick. Just yeah, we are weird autists among women and we understand that, lol. Men are welcome here and you can relax. I definitely encourage other women to post here though. We just aren't common and I know how it can be.

Kinda silly to have a thread about women in Metal and not discuss bands with women in them. I think the standard for this thread should be that a band has at least one woman (a real woman, not a troon) who is active in the band or was active before disbandment. Focus more on women in bands. All the genresperging can belong in the main thread.

Also, let's get some interaction and respond to others' respective contributions ITT. It's no fun to dump links and then go unnoticed.

Yeah, I remember Gallhammer. Honestly, I don't think they're that good. Sure, they're competent at what they do (Hellhammer worship with odd Doom/Crust influences), but nothing earthshattering.

I absolutely don't want to do that. A lot of the bands I like are all male. I am the gay retarded OP. I just made it because I had a moment where I finally met another woman who was interested in metal and I wanted to sperg with her because we absolutely are not common at all. It is not normal you meet other women who are interested in metal.

But again, nothing against men posting here. I guess you can refer back to the thread in Mass Debates about why this thread exists. I absolutely do not want to make some other hugbox safe space and fuck Null for allowing them to exist in the first place.

It all depends on where you are, the venues, the bands playing, et cetera. The ratio of women to men at Metal shows is about 1:10, but you'll find several who go by themselves or with other female friends. While women are in the extreme minority, their presence is far from unheard of. Metal-Archives was co-founded by a woman after all.

I personally in like 20 years haven't found another woman who was naturally interested in metal and not because of dick. It just is really uncommon and God knows I tried.
