I think it might depend on the role. There’s a lot of damage a malicious insider can do, especially in light of the competency crisis.
I think the optimal solution is to get the dishonorable changed to honorable, then to get a job in the Military Individual Complex, to use your competency and insider knowledge to accelerate the collapse of the system.
There are many ways to force the government to piss away millions of dollars on useless, non-functional equipment or they can simply win by taking an indirect check from the government, provide nothing useful in return, and nullify their ability to draft you for the next war.
