Some kind of gameboy knockoff from Portland? Does anybody on here own one of these things? It's got some stupid crank on the side and apparently came with a subscription for a dozen games which is, I assume, their whole library.

Anyway, here's the MobyGames credits for Lost Your Marbles, which I guess also shows what these people have got their fingers into, don't know if there's really anything new here. Here's Kim Belair's credits. Looks like the Valve tie-in was in Dota: Underlords (No wonder nobody knew what game she had been contracted for, that shit is dead as fuck.)

QUANTUM PHANTOM BASKETBALL was imagined by Spencer Garland of BRENDA ARTS to be Black contemporary high art in videogame form. We helped Spencer bring his vision to life by building the team, producing the project and helping with writing.
South of Midnight:
The team also pulled from outside Xbox, employing consulting group Sweet Baby to help craft the diversity of voices needed for a game like this.

It looks like the only source for information is their Linkedin page. They have a Substack. However, it has not been updated since August. Twitter is locked and Instagram is private.

I remember reading about Playdate. It's definitely the most hipster handheld imaginable. Luckily the crank is an input device and not needed to charge it while you play.

Regardless of the woke shit, this confirms a suspicion about the gaming industry that has been floated around for a while. Most of these studios have no actual vision for their games anymore. Any game dev worth spit would never outsource their story and narrative of all things to someone else. It's already bad enough that studios will outsource development in other important areas and the game is noticeably worse for it, but this is truly bizarre. This only makes sense to someone trying to make product first before art and "message" before story.

That was the only motive behind making games all along. However, it's more transparent now because there's literally no reason to try and make anything with worthwhile artistic appeal. The new GOW and The Last of Us are proof of that.
