This guy was supposed to be the heir to the movement and instead spiraled into the sperg singularity because he couldn't wait 4 years.

TL;DR the Bundies were a group of ranchers illegally grazing cattle on BLM lands. Normally there would be a fine issued and the whole thing would be resolved as a civil affair (versus a criminal case), but since this was the Obama admin, they decided to make an example of them. So they decided to call up the FBI to start harassing them, place snipers around their property, and draw up a full tactical assault plan for people who were classified as being of a minimal threat level. The Bundies realized they were probably going to get Waco'd, and made the first move and took over a government building. Naturally the media got wind, a bunch of other guys got involved, and the whole thing grew so big the Feds couldn't risk an assault without it becoming a publicly-televised mutual bloodbath, and rule number one of trying to make an example of people is never get caught bleeding while doing so.

So they negotiated, and aside from one guy who got shot while reaching into his coat while the cops aimed guns at him, everyone made it out alive and well to show up in court. Of course, the entire defense plan of the Bundies in court hinged on the fact the Feds were gearing up to go Waco on them and so they were forced to be proactive, and as you probably guessed any and all evidence of that from the Federal side disappeared. "Snipers? Tactical plans? Threat analyses? We don't know what you're talking about!" They were convicted, but during the appeals process the Bundies somehow got their hands on all the planning and prep work the Feds had been doing, and the judge ordered them freed due to the Feds pulling Brady violations.

You can't appeal a guilty plea.

Even on CNN letting him get away with that claim is pathetic. They might as have hung a sign around his neck saying "Democrat Party's top pick" for the interview.

One thing that has to be noted is that Cliven Bundy wasn't some ideological madman and remained coolheaded during the entire affair, even if he was probably guilty of illegal grazing. Cliven would kick out radicals and troublemakers that were trying to incite violence rather than stand as armed deterrence. One of the people Cliven kicked out was Ray Epps who would later be a focal point in the Jan 6th riot. Another man and wife duo he kicked out were hot heads and later got into a shootout with the Feds a year or two later. Then there was that one group the government ran a death squad on for being hotheads but I don't remember if they were part of the Bundy Standoff, just that some of the Bundy family was a part of their 'movement.'

Where are the rest of the militias when it comes to Jan 6 demonstrators? Where's the action regarding government grievances? Why aren't the Bundy guys making a stand to free their compatriot Greg Burleson, the only bundy participant in prison?

Do you have a more relevant example of guns keeping the government in line? The FBI killed an old man for facebook posts, where's the direct action regarding that?

You're mixing up the standoff in Nevada and the standoff at some federal forest ranger station type thing that happened in Oregon

Old Man Bundy had purchased federal grazing permits since 1954 for federally-owned land managed by the BLM adjacent to his ranch. The feds then said in 1993 we aren't going to issue permits for that land anymore because of some endangered desert tortoises or some bullshit. Old Man Bundy sperged out and told the government fuck off, I'm going to graze my cattle where I like, I'm not going to buy anymore grazing permits, and you can sit and spin if you don't like it. Old Man Bundy adopted the sovereign citizen spergery to justify his being pissed off that the government told him we are changing the rules for this land, you can't graze on it anymore

Numerous court rulings and 20 years later, the feds moved in to seize his cattle under court order. Old Man Bundy really fucking sperged out then and called up the various anti-government spergs he had met over the decades to come help him. They showed up, the feds backed down, Old Man Bundy won. This was all in Nevada. Yeah he kicked out some of the very spergiest of the spergs, but he was fine with the vast majority of the spergs who showed up to point rifles at federal officers. The government gave up, gave back the cattle it had seized, and Old Man Bundy got away with it 100% after numerous embarrassments for the feds in court re: criminal charges for the Bundys and other spergs

The guy who got ventilated was in Oregon, some of the Bundy sons and the spergiest of the spergs decided to do an Occupy style thing in Oregon over grazing permit/fees there. Old Man Bundy showed up later, once again he and his sons embarrassed the federal government in court, and today the Bundys keep doing whatever the fuck they want on the federally owned land near their ranch because fuck the government

They were and are retards but the government was and is the bigger retard
