Idk, having the lobotomized human look like a chicken seemed kinda on the nose. Plus shit like Peta propaganda always hinges on "what if animals were human?".

Also people don't give a shit about the cost of what they consume. No one would stop eating chocolate because of the child slaves being used for it.
For what its worth I consider myself a professional master level nooticer and appart from the extremely on the nose "facist side of the country" comment nothing else rang my nooticing bells in the episode.

It's the superior Family Guy with a mix of Aqua Teen, King of the Hill, Futurama and Freddy Got Fingered. It's a riot through and through
Any recommended seasons? I don't recall hearing about it getting TDS like all other western IPs.

I realize this is coming dangerously close to a "yet you participate in society" argument, but it's a bit rich that Harmon and Roiland made their nut off Pickle Rick bongs and Mr Meeseeks laptop stickers, yet are going to turn around and decry consumerism. It sort of reminds me of the fact that WALL-E was released by one of the most avaricious and greedy entertainment companies to ever exist. I think they left it vague on purpose so they can get free buzz from journos projecting whatever lefty pet cause they have onto the episode and get people talking about something other than the Roiland-shaped elephant in the room.

Also I think this episode shined a huge spotlight on the fact that they've made Rick way, way too overpowered. In Season 1 and for most of Season 2 this plotline might have worked since Rick still had limitations and situations even he had to run away from, so you could buy that he can't just fart out a deus ex machina to solve the spaghetti problem. Now that we know he's unkillable, unstoppable, and can do almost anything, him choosing to wait until the end of the episode to mention "oh yeah I can probably synthesize this" just reads as writer laziness.

Oh and that "the fascist half of the country" was pure cringe and I unironically believe if Roiland was still around he would have smacked Harmon in the back of the head and told him no. Yes, Roiland is an obnoxious libshit but he knew better than to insert current year politics into his magnum opus. Mostly.

It's becoming less obvious that the voice actors got replaced.
Morty's voice is fine. Most of Roiland's periphery characters are fine. Rick is mostly fine, but the little eccentricities of his voice have largely been washed away. The burps, the little idiosyncrasies, and it gets really obvious that the alcoholic rasp is gone when he starts yelling. It really sounds like an AI Rick voice and I'm starting to wonder if they're using an AI to generate the voice and crediting some nobody since AI is a hot button issue at the moment. I think the unsaid part of this whole kerfuffle is that it's a referendum on whether or not a show can lose its flagship star and keep trucking along without people noticing too much. And if they see they can get away with replacing the voice of someone as popular as Rick Sanchez, it's going to be a bad sign for things to come. If this works, I'd expect to see a wave of people gettng cancelled in the aftermath since they no longer have "too important to lose" status.

Yeah I can hear it if I'm listening for it, but if you told me that Roiland was just having an off day recording in this last episode I would probably believe you.

Honestly I could live without the burping and the "oh jeez Rick". It it is AI then I'm happy Total VA death is upon us.

"Yet you participate in society" is a faggot deflection by people who want to implement grand changes on everyone yet don't want to actually change their current living srandard. In a case of a corporation, not exploiting third world countries for shitty polluting merchandise is not even that.

Watch from the beginning since they do lot of continuity. Just know it starts rough but by the time Phantom of the Telethon they've abandoned the Family Guy lite tone and embraced being more like KOTH by way of South Park

I'd say much, MUCH earlier than that. The 2006 episodes like Tears of a Clooney or that Dungeons & Dragons episode were more like KoTH episodes with mixtures of early Futurama or early South Park. They've done a bit of political stuff here or there until 2010.

I liked the new episode (5) overall. It has some really neat scenes, and I barely noticed a difference in the voices at all. I’ll put the rest under a spoiler just in case…
The death of Rick Prime seemed a tad underwhelming. There didn’t seem to be much at stake, and this was really driven home by them killing off a rando character we’ve maybe seen twice, and it was obviously meant to be that stupid.

That said, I really enjoyed Evil Morty. The dude honestly just wants to be left alone, there’s no ulterior motives here, and I find that refreshing in an odd sort of way. He also clearly got some of Rick’s genius genes, so the two are able to work together like a well-oiled machine.

The episode did answer a question I’ve had about Diane never being in any universe ever. Glad they cleared that up. And the stinger showed what would happen if someone was put into Rick’s shoes, but actually gave up on the revenge and got over the trauma. Corny, but funny.

New episode was also good. I thought it will be another bullshit continuity episode, but shit actually happens and Evil Morty turns out to be more likable than the original duo.

It's probably the best season since 2.

An actual good clip show episode, without being too repetitive, doesn't get too explicit and some fun gags. Weird that getting rid of Roiland drastically improved the quality.
I still think Rick & Morty sucks. To someone who will reply or quote me by trying to attempt to change my mind, fuck off

I sailed some high seas for this season and immediately got nastygrammed by my ISP for the torrenting, lol. I watched them and... eh? It was about the same as usual. The new voice actors did okay, Roiland apparently hadn't set foot in the writers' room ever since Harmon filled it with his cronies, so the writing wasn't different. I was neither wowed nor disgusted. All the people thirsty for Roiland's dick saying it would nosedive without him were wrong, as again, he'd been forced out of a creative role years ago. Would it be a superior show today if Harmon had gotten ousted instead? Maybe. Roiland's lol random adlibbing stuff was hit or miss to me.
