Nah, this is a rented apartment. We have the other type too, but most of the good apartments are for rent. Certainly there was no expectation of me to renovate, the company does that every couple years, but I really wanted to open the kitchen up and I wasn’t planning to move out any time soon, so doing it myself was worth it. I could probably have asked them to open the kitchen up next time they overhaul it, but that would have been a decade or so, they’d changed out the counters and appliances just before I moved in, and they would definitely have raised the rent so I’d still be paying for it. Instead I got it done perfectly and just as I wanted it.
I can't see that in the U.S. You're just stuck with what you get, hence why I want a home

Proof? Been in two crashes. All parties survived both incidents. Unless you're not wearing seatbelts, you're fine.
OP thinks a single F-35 costs $1.7 trillion:

LIFETIME PROGRAM COST you nigger! That includes research and development. The actual cost of a F-35 today is 70 million, which even competing against non stealth jets, is fucking cheap.
have chosen to rename this "the bus". It is a "bus" that I don't have to wait out in the rain for and has no homeless fentanyl addicts on it. I am now riding "the bus".

Wow this renaming thing is fun!

You can’t just hire some guys to come in and remodel for you? Do you need government permits or something? I just paid some guys to come over, told them what I wanted, they knocked around on the wall and poked it with some sensors to make sure it wasn’t a necessary wall, and then next week they returned, took the wall down, put the bar in, and that was that. I don’t see why you couldn’t do this in the USA, it seems like standard job.

Landlords are usually big companies or some asshole many states away. Try asking permission to a brick wall. The only way that happens is if the guy is local and it's kind of just his side gig, he owns a extra property he's renting out and likes your idea. Otherwise no. You have no claim to your box other than you get to stay there

Oh, no, of course they won’t let you knock down walls if you ask for permission. If anything they’ll tell the door guard to not let your contractors in. I’m saying just do it. This was like a decade ago and there have been no consequences, and I’ve even had the building manager and janitors in a few times to fix things and order a new washer-dryer. I don’t think they even noticed, even though I offered them coffee on the bar table.

The problem is they take your deposit when you leave. Which the scumfucks usually do but that's not the point. Renting in the US is fundamentally not built for long term stay. They raise rent yearly, so you constantly have to jump ship. I want my deposit back

Yeah, they do that here too, especially for smaller apartments. I think my rent is still reasonable though, and I’d be willing to pay a bit more to not have to move out anyway.

You don’t get the deposit back either way, just think of it as a keeping out the poor fee rather than as a deposit you don’t earn interest on. “Oh, the floor is scratched in this corner, no deposit for you”. Just knock down walls and make the apartment your own. I raised the value of mine quite a bit, if they have a problem with that, it’s for them to stew on. Next year they’ll probably offer to renovate my kitchen, and I don’t expect any sass about the missing wall, if they even notice it. When they renovated the bathrooms they just asked that I suggest which weeks would work best for me, and then I can talk to the contractor and the building manager about what I’d prefer. When they renovated the bedrooms and hallways the contractors just set up a meeting with me so I could tell them what I wanted done, building manager didn’t even show up that time. Nobody’s complained that I’ve changed out the light fixtures or screwed a large TV and a bunch of cabinets to the walls, I expect the same for the kitchen.

Your building managers seem very accommodating. The US is not that. AT ALL. Mounting a TV to the wall is one thing. They'll just steal the deposit. Knocking down the wall? They WILL fuck you. Again America is built around buying a house. Unfortunately the economy is in a downward spiral, so you just have to live with that wall you hate man, unless you know your landlord by name and he's REALLY nice.

If you back up into parking spaces I hate ypu, only neighbors do that.
Sociopathically blocking the entire lane for 20 whole seconds to gingerly reverse into the parking spot.
And they never get it right the first time, so they have to pull out to correct, and get pissy when you try to pass after they’ve done the initial, crooked, pull-in.

You guys are just wrong. Reversing into the parking spot is the only way to park perfectly straight and close to the curb without bumping into it and destroying your rims. There's a bit of a learning curve to it, but I'm not a particularly good driver and it still only took me a few days to get good at it. Yanks just can't drive, as evidenced by what inevitably happens when your cities build roundabouts.

Parallel parking is not the same thing as reversing into a parking spot.

If you're pulling forwards into a spot, you'll never damage your rims. If you have a low sports car you could damage the front splitter, but all of them have parking sensors now so even that's not an issue anymore.

Oh, okay, I get it. You mean the sort of parking spots that are perpendicular to the street.

It really doesn't matter whether you reverse in or not. You'll block the street for a few seconds regardless, it's just a difference of whether you block the street while you back into the space, or while you back out of it.

Yep. I think this discussion about parking and the earlier one about apartment renovations have been interesting lessons about cultural/linguistic differences between Russia and the US.

In the US, parallel parking is a rare thing due to the abundance of off-street parking and people who don't live in older dense areas can go their entire lives without ever having to parallel park outside of a driving test.

That's also the reason why it's hilarious when urbanists complain about street parking wasting space that could be used for bike lanes. Suburbs don't have street parking and urban areas could easily get rid of it without inconveniencing drivers by building garages.

Nah, the parking one is probably just my English not being good enough to understand the issue being discussed. I prefer reversing into the spot, because when I need to pull out I'll have better visibility of the street, and it's faster, so it feels safer, but if there are cars behind me I'll usually just drive forward into the spot, since otherwise they often stop too close behind me to let me into the spot anyway. Or they rush in and steal it from me.
The one about apartments is less about Russia than it is about audacity. I'm definitely not allowed to knock down walls, I just don't ask for permission. I knew the result would be good and I was entirely expecting to be yelled at about it until I could show how well it turned out, I just never was. Also I can afford to lose the deposit, so if they kick me out they'll have to find someone else to take over the apartment, which would take a while because it's a large apartment in a good location. They're as incentivised to keep me there as I am to not want the bother of moving, an empty apartment doesn't earn them any money. If you can't afford to lose the deposit, and your financial strategy is to constantly move around to optimise your rent, that's different and I agree you probably shouldn't knock down any walls without permission.

It's funny that all the suggestions he gave weren't even relevant to keeping women safe, besides the one where he sacrifices himself as a human meat shield. But as he said it's to "feel" safe without actually making it safer. Actually you know what, no I take it back, while the angry dude is wailing on this redditor to a pulp it provides an excellent opportunity for the woman to escape. It's an excellent idea!
100% the best suggestion was to listen to Women's Lib podcasts on catcalling and Feminism. Like Niggers will listen to shrill harpies tell them not to catcall.

Backing into parking spaces is low time preference. Hence it's only whites that do it. It's actually better than people who just pull in and then latter have to back out.

>women-only train cars will save us guys!

I foresee a few heckin' valid problems with that idea.

Suffer, you dumb fucking cityniggers. Now go demand the release of more violent felons and wonder why your streets aren't safe anymore.

That's what I mentioned like a month ago, but great minds think alike.

Urbanists want to have it both ways, though, neither street parking OR parking lots. They also will talk about "no cars in urban areas" and "suburban areas shouldn't exist", yet still deny wanting to ban cars. (The ol' "motte and bailey" argument again)

The sad thing is that he's not wrong that Washington DC sucks and that's why he feels the way he does. Is he too dumb and/or emotionally immature to realize that having roads has nothing to do with feeling depressed, or is he actively suppressing it?
No sir, if we get rid of cars then it'll be like in an old movie where everyone talks and gets along, and instead of sitting around posting on the internet all day like socially isolated goofs they'd have friends and not be sad anymore.

These people seem very obviously unhappy because there's no community where they are, but they also seem too Reddit-brained to ever accept that their rabid progressivism and disdain for any form of traditional culture/institution is why that situation exists, so in their dim minds the only solution is to shove everyone together by force until they're so on top of each other that they've got no other choice but to be communal.

Honestly I'd be more worried about the landlord suing me.

Idk if there's some protection against suing a tenant, but putting myself in the landlord's shoes if someone went knocking down walls and structurally reorganizing the building I own and will have to market to someone else after that tenant leaves, and it winds up costing me a bunch of money in the long run, I'd hope there was some greater form of financial recourse than just keeping their deposit. Maybe that's more of a US thing.

I decided to check some of the most recent posts on /r/fuckcars and I am not disappointed. Here we have some biker that gets annoyed at a vehicle backing out of a driveway which blocked the bike line. Road rage or fantasies of road rage ensue and someone allegedly made a Reddit post about them in their city.

He posts in the Winnipeg subreddit (fucking leaf) and I couldn't find the post he was refering to, but I did see 2 posts that were recent about the same family giving up on being carfree. It's like poetry.

I particularly like this comment as it looks like the guy is an attention seeking NDP faggot.

And for additional cyclist lunacy, there's this vido I found from a couple months ago in Winnipeg. Some dumb cyclist blocks the road for a truck, the truck attempts to go around and the cyclist moves his bike into the moving truck.

Here is the reddit page about it https://old.reddit.com/r/Winnipeg/comments/16nm7ba/cyclist_injured_in_apparent_road_rage_incident/ and the very pro cyclist article

I'm imagining the first posters interaction went a bit like the video above. Must be chud cyclist-brain in action.

Sure, you are less likely to die on a train or a subway. But you still have to deal with this:
Jason / NJB was asked to comment but just said we had systemic issues and advocated for his viewers to watch socialist channels.

Last time I was in LA was to visit my sister and watch a performance at LA Opera. I stayed at the Sheraton Grand in Downtown LA and took the metro.

I found:
  • A piss soaked seat someone had laid a newspaper on to sit down.
  • Graffiti that was either burned in or written in shit.
  • General trash.
  • A urinal catheter and bag.
  • Mentally ill persons.
  • A homeless person that had a cloud of flys / nats.
Fuck that shit.
