The room—called the “Sanford Safe Space”—will make its debut this year in Rubenstein 120, Whetten’s old office. She said the room will be an experiment in helping people heal, and that a social worker will also be present. The door will be open to all groups, she said, ranging from minorities to military members to conservatives.

“We want to have a place for people who feel marginalized and face constant attention for characteristics that are immutable—like their skin color or their religion, their immigration status or whether they’re from another country—to be able to heal,” she said.

In this case, it is a room for "marginalized people" (their words) to gather and heal. There will be a social worker there to help them heal.

I disagree, when I was in college I was the library napping king. They also had a fuck spot in the music building. There was a floor that contained about two dozen small rooms for students to practice their "craft". Walking through that hallway is what I'd imagine being inside of a schizophrenic's head is like. You would hear people opera singing, noodling on their tuba, blowing into their flutes, practicing the trombone, all mixed together into a chaotic, unrecognizable mess. The small private rooms and the noise made it a perfect spot to fuck your best lady friend.
