South Park + Its Political Sperging (?) Thread - Season 26 ongoing!

And you're not even getting the entire catalog. The censored Mohamed episodes are not on either streaming service. So technically the only service that offers all South Park content is piracy at this point.
Aren't they all the "Special Edition" versions of the show, too?

God, the days where the worst we had to worry about was iTunes changing their DRM and accidentally bricking your music collection seem so quaint. At least that could just be attributed to tech incompetence. Now we have to contend with people that will censor other people's back catalogs right in front of your face, and tell you it's okay because a brown person somewhere might get upset if they saw it. And you're ackshually a bigot if you disagree. I unironically think them censoring the Mohammed episode was the first crack in the dam, and I hope Hell exists so the pussy-ass Comedy Central execs can roast for all time and think about the tidal wave of censorship they gave their assent to. All because a bunch of pedo-worshipping raghead dune coons shook their fists at them.

Right. There are small changes to random episodes. The Token/Tolkien change. As well as changing the animations and aspect ratio.
I'm out of the loop here, but are they seriously calling Token "Tolkien" now?

The point of the joke is that Token was the only black kid in South Park, thus "token".

It's sort of like if they changed the Boondocks retroactively to remove the "Uncle" from "Uncle Ruckus".

You telling me they are editing the old episodes for this shitty name retconn?
The closest thing I can find to substantiate that point is an entry on the South Park wiki indicating that they've changed the closed-captioning from the old episodes to reflect the new name. What makes it worse is that the 2022 episode that 'canonized' his name, 'The Big Fix' actually pokes fun at the idea that for almost 20 years everyone assumed that he was named Token and was simply never corrected. Not only is this directly contradicted by the 2012 episode 'Raising the Bar' where the name Token was shown on-screen, but this whole 'We've always been at war with Eastasia' style of editing ruins the joke of 'Everyone just assumed his name was Token'. The whole thing just reeks of hasty executive meddling to appease black people in a post-Floyd world.

I've explained it earlier in the thread, but it obviously bears repeating.

"Tolkien" is a gaslighting joke.

"His name is Tolkien, it's always been Tolkien, and you're a racist asshole for assuming otherwise."
As explained earlier in the thread and also obviously bears repeating.

The joke is gay and it fucking sucks.

Anyone else know if they're gonna tackle the Israel-Hamas situation? I'm still not watching Nu-Park but I wonder how PC Principal would deal with the situation; you know being caught between defending Muslims while also having to deal with the rising anti-semitism (especially among people who he used to be affiliated with) and the fact that he's batting for what's possibly the most regressive religion in in the world.

They won't touch it at all. They got burned for depicting Muhammed as a guy that can shoot fire one time.

Yeah, its not that they CAN'T offend people its that they WON'T offend them. One episode on the disaster that is Biden is all they need to offend everyone again. Hell they spent entire seasons on Trump and even jabbed at Obama once or twice (even if it was VERY tame and never directed at him directly).

Actually they did go hard on Obama.

>>Introduced into the South Park universe as a literal criminal who conned his way into the White House and literally stole hope (in the metaphor form of "The Hope Diamond") from the country.

>>Had Obama orchestrate the outright murder of an innocent FBI Agent for the crime of saying wealthy men shouldn't be whore mongering sexual predators when Obama tried to cover for his sexual deviant Hollywood/athlete celebrity friends by concocting a scam where they claim they were demonically possessed by an evil Incubus spirit, for why they were whoring around and sexually harassing every woman in sight.

>>Was outright willing to rape Kyle when Cartman and Randy started a faux Tea Party movement over the demand that the nation adopt a standard for dick measuring that ensures that their micro-penises would be deemed "above average", to stop them all because Cartman casually and randomly proclaimed "fuck Kyle" while giving his demands to Obama.

Not to mention that the 2012 election episode outright had Cartman be used as a patsy by Disney and Obama proper to steal the election from Romney complete with the proof of the election theft being destroyed so that everyone could just say Obama won when Romney instead won.

But yeah, they really fucking need to do an anti-Biden episode ASAP because they clearly are showing themselves violating their own ethos as established in Cartoon Wars (IE everything is fair game or nothing is....)

You telling me they are editing the old episodes for this shitty name retconn?
Not yet.

But only because they would have to go though god knows how many episodes to redub them (and edit animation as well), which would have to be done before they even THINK about replacing all commercially available releases with the changed version. And no one wants to do that, especially given the number of DVD sets out there in the wild and the PR nightmare that would ensue if they not only change the TV/streaming episodes, but also physical releases.

They'd probably do an episode where Cartman has to rescue Kyle and his family from a bunch of college antifas types who are trying to kill the family ala the first Purge movie, with Cartman as the black homeless guy from the film who has to save them. With the whole point being that while Cartman may hate the Jews, he considers Kyle to be HIS Jew and no one but Cartman can torment him.

Didn't the last episode of 26 end with them running back to their Garrison Trump jokes? I don't think anything about Biden is going to happen if they're still railing on Trump in 2023.

They're just doing what everyone else is doing. Pretty much no one makes fun of Biden in media. Constant Trump jokes all during his presidency, but as soon as Biden takes office, suddenly presidential-centered jokes just aren't funny anymore, imagine that.

Just like many other jokes in South Park nowadays.

But seriously, you guys jump to the conclusion of malice way too quickly. Panderverse released last month, how can you seriously believe that "token black" which is the exact same fucking joke is suddenly too offensive and they're rushing to censor it everywhere?
Sure, we've seen weirder shit happen, but can you prove this is actually the case or are you maybe just oversperging about a dumb meta joke?

Let's assume that there is no political malice or bias in South Park's writing staff since season 10 or 11 (when they were last consistently funny). And let's assume that the show is simply there to be entertaining and satiric and get people to laugh and not offer any political nor social commentary whatsoever. Then the show has failed on nearly every level for the last decade and a half if not two straight decades. Because it is no longer funny. And now no longer entertaining.

I don't really care which social points South Park makes because they always straddled the fence or took a populist opinion. Or which political topics it discusses because everything was surface level and just there to set up the punchlines. Because now they aren't even being funny or clever with the writing. Some people here think that if South Park went after Biden that somehow the show would get back to its late 90s or mid 2000s level edge or humor. But it would just be more weak Tegridy garbage and neutered Cartman.

I don't think that if they made a Biden episode. Or ripped on 'black lives matter' or pizzagate or whatever topic old fans seem to want, that it would be entertaining for a single frame of animation. It would just sadly prove that nothing can make them funny anymore. South Park's writing staff would prove capable of removing humor from anything like some comedy black hole.

Are you retarded? Trey and Matt's strategy have been 'Doing le edgy shit' and then 'We've sowwy we've huwt feewings, we just wanted a waugh" for years, now.
