That was my thought. When she mentioned getting death threats in her inbox, I was pretty convinced it was an op. The only problem I'm seeing with that theory is it would imply there are Dream stans smart enough to employ such a tactic, which is actual nightmare fuel.

Since this was proven fake I think this is exactly what's happening. Dream stans congregating in some god forsaken Discord or Twitter DM to run gay ops like this.
Now they can point to this and say "see! the allegations were false! she admitted it!" any time somebody brings up anything against Dream. The well has been poisoned.

Part of me was hoping people on both sides would gain some introspective about how blindly taking sides without looking at the evidence critically is retarded, but looking at the responses there's still plenty of "You have to ALWAYS believe victims!"

Not necessarily stans, but rather goons he's got within orbit or has direct contact with. To give an anecdote, back in 2018-2019 Richard Spencer had goons that ran gay-ops on his behalf. In one case to try and manipulate the beliefs of a YouTuber by the username Truediltom to the point that Tom had a total mental breakdown. This is mostly anecdotes, so feel free to take this story with a grain of salt.

What I'm speculating is that Clayton is engaging in similar tactics as Spencer, but with different goals in mind. In this case, that goal making him look completely innocent and try and swing public opinion back in his favor. It's very much possible (if you stretch into potential schizo territory) that he's been using goons to clandestinely protect his public image before he had 100,000 subscribers.

They've been known to do this. I don't have any links on hand but when Dream was having a new controversy seemingly every week in 2020-2021 they'd regularly make burners dressed up as stan accounts for the YouTuber he was fighting with and do the usual Twitter "I want to seem like I'm bigoted but I'm scared of being cancelled" behavior by telling people to kill themselves or pretending to dox each other to prove they and Dream were victims. I remember a groupchat of theirs for planning specifically this leaked ages ago but realistically that's lost to time nowadays unless there's a devoted archivist of "14 year old girls who think they're gay men" internet infighting.
