I think this site's constant changing of TLDs and sometimes being TOR only caused some of the low-effort and low-intelligence posters to lose interest or think it was gone for good. Once in a while, I'll poke my head in a 4chan board and sometimes /g/, /pol/, or /b/ will be discussing this site. It's surprising how many of them think it's just gone.
