The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

They actually included a modernized version of the flying dropkick. Short was worth it for that alone.
Don't want to come off at some sort of hater but the CGI for this looks like it came straight out of a source filmmaker YouTube video from 2018. I know they didn't have much of a budget for this but you know what would be a lot better if they actually made that into a feature film with rubber suits I mean when will people get the idea that a CGI model takes a lot more work in time then it does with a practical suit? I mean you got thousands of cosplayers that literally spend their own time and money creating almost wonder one to one recreations of famous characters. There's a guy that literally created several Freddy fazbear from FNAF suits and you could swore that they were made by former Disney engineers with a lot of time on their hands.

Toho has to at least have some people that are willing to design a proper suit I mean probably going to fall apart after a few films but that was just the charm of it plus they could make it out of some new material that can future proof it as a bonus.

Got my tickets for Minus One pre-ordered. Trailer looks friggin sick. Incredible fx for a $15 budget. Hollywood can suck my ass.

Anyone watching the Monarch series? First two episodes are out, pretty decent so far.
I found the modern day setting characters to be boring and feel generic. But I did enjoy the characters set in the past, I feel if the show focused solely on them and their story the show would be better. Exploring the begging of Monarch and the search for kaiju without having this modern day crap with the family drama.

Seeing Minus One in the 2nd! Should be a good time
Get ready yourself for disappointment. We will never have a good proper Godzilla film ever again. Final Wars was the true final send off for the big G and the last time Toho was ever passionate about the franchise. 50 years of quality movies was good enough no need to milk it anymore.

Are you done projecting you spastic?

Bruh, it's pretty much the truth, if it isn't guys in rubber suits duking it out and wade pools or model cities I don't want no part of it. They could do so much more with actual props then spend thousands of man hours working on a model that will only get 5 minutes of screen time max. It wasn't up until Godzilla versus Kong that we actually got ourselves a decently lit battle that wasn't shrouded in the veil of night smothered with obstruction and smoke or set in a fucking hurricane where you could swear that they were trying to remake that Italian colorize acid trip valled "Cozzilla" from the seventies rather than actually make something faithful.

How was I projecting I'm just telling you the honest to God truth about the state of this overdone franchise. Name all the times that you've been burned out by disappointment after disappointment by both Toho and Warner/Legendary.

You are still projecting like a complete spaz

Shin Godzilla was great you double nigger

I fucking hated Shin Godzilla. Too much bureaucratic bullshit, not enough Godzilla.
YMMV I suppose. Thanks to Hideaki Anno's hypnotic cinematography (and being an Evangelion fan where bureaucracy was a thing in the show), I thought the bureaucratic narrative of it was rather compelling, albeit it had tongue-in-cheek elements as well that sadly has been lost since the theatrical release because FUNimation for some dumb-ass reason never kept the on-screen text. Still will never fully 100% comprehend it because Japanese politics are somehow stupidly complicated, but it was probably a matter of time before a Godzilla movie became political (more-so than usual), and I rather it be from the Japanese themselves than us.

Godzilla fans have a lot in common with Sonic fans. That's why I really try not argue with them cuz they'll never see the forest for the trees and will keep on supporting whatever that gets put out and then ask why do they feel like they were ripped off when "x" monster doesn't show up.
You have a redditfrog pfp, how are you special? Godzilla fans are not even like fans of say Sonic, Star Wars or Jojo as Godzilla fans are more of a different bread
Ya not sure if he's trolling or just completely retarded but Shin is easily in the top five if not top three best Godzilla movies
He's retarded. That's it

FUNimation for some dumb-ass reason never kept the on-screen text
that in particular amazes me, as giant titles on the screen for shit is an Anno thing going back to Gunbuster off the top of my head, _and_ it's part of the Brazil-style dark humor about bureaucracy that runs through the movie that the titles given to the guys become increasingly long and drawn out
neat little fan-made thing of Monsterverse Kong vs `Zilla, showing yet again that as long as you get him away from his movie GINO can be a pretty solid monster in his own right

I didn't like it that much, actually it's probably my least favorite in the Millennium era. Too fast and flashy, too much combat happens between people, short and underwhelming monster fights, story too similar to Destroy All Monsters.

I didn't hate Final Wars but it really needed to go a lot harder in being Godzilla and being Kitamura
like, Ghidora has a maser in one mouth, a sword in another, and an another sword in the last, and he's spinning constantly while shooting and swording
