When I was younger, I naively thought that every series Night Mind covered must be good because he made "good" content in my prepubescent eyes. As I got older, I realized he's a degenerate and seemingly everyone surrounding him is equally a degenerate- troons, furries, pedos, etc. The reason why he became so big was the fact he made decently edited videos about ARGs back when ARGs were still unknown to most people. Just goes to show you be careful who you idolize.

Anyways, anyone else notice Rob Gavagan's videos degrading in quality? I feel like he's trying to catch up with current times, as in his newest content reflects other channels covering similar topics. Yet to me the fact his channel was presented a lot more professionally was why I started watching him.
Look at his recent video, especially his intro, and then compare it to the stuff he made 6-4 years ago.
I feel like he's not doing well mentally.

Anyway to not derail the thread too much, Dank Net uploaded the other day after years of silence.

It's different than his usual lolcow and boomer sex pest content. It's a dive into a man's extensive and illustrative delusions (most likely some form of schizophrenia) and 19th-century asylum conditions including some horror stories that sound like something straight out of the Gulag.

It feels a bit like a topic Shrouded Hand would cover. Thought it would be interesting. I could also see Wendigoon do something like that when he's not shoving ARGDicks down his throat.

I know it’s TTS and has kind of a clickbait title, but some of the videos are pretty terrifying, probably because the dashcam POV makes it relatable for those of us who are on the road all the time. I’ve also never seen any of the videos before, so it’s better than all the horror channels that just regurgitate the same couple stories every once and a while.

Same here. Here is the actual problem with UrbanSPOOK's content: The content is problematic... and nothing else.

Lacey's is a horror series with very problematic, disturbing and sick themes - rape, murder, cannibalism, pedophilia, animal cruelty, torture, child abuse, mental illness, suicide, drug use - but the writing actually works. It doesn't spoonfeed you what happened to her, it shows you her story and it's up to the viewer to come to the terrifying conclusions behind her self-destructive behavior. It barely focuses on her abusive uncle. Same thing with Bug Murders, as it focuses on the victims and barely gives any screen time to the killer.

The Painter does not do that. The victims are just there so that the series can forcefeed you cheesy violent death scenes. That's the difference.

The accessibility of fame in the digital age we live in is really a blessing and a curse.

It could also just be a job. I know very little about Wendigoon aside from what he talks about in his videos and reserve judgement in that regard. I see nothing wrong with becoming a corporate video site if it means my IRL benefits improve. The parasocial relationship that gets people exasperated when the creator does something folks don't like is a problem. The alternative is do whatever you like and make no money thus a net deficit in returns for the investment of time. Personally, I'm probably just gonna launch a channel on Rumble or X if I were to do it. I hate how sanitized YouTube is and that Jersh, of all people, is more interesting than 80% of what I can find on Clearnet.

TLDR
Just like Adam and Jamie of Mythbuster's fame are very open about their dislike of one another they still worked together for a long time. As long as the cash flow is good, most sane people can separate the differences.

I watched the Wendigoon video. It wasn't as bad as it sounded from the title, honestly.
He didn't really shit all over Urban or try to play horror police and what he did say wasn't that unfair. I was fully expecting him to go full sperg-mode over "acceptable horror", so him just saying it's disturbing (not even that that makes it bad) but without any real substance was a big surprise.
He should've just not covered it at all and made one of his usual ARG explained videos on Greylocke.
