2023 Israel-Palestine Armed Conflict

Seriously, what's up with Spain and Ireland having absolute faggot commie leaders?
Spain has been in political turmoil for years because a good chunk of it wants to secede and the central government is just to stupid too let them do so. The Commie leader is basically a compromise/unity candidate.

The Houthis have seized another ship, the Liberian-flagged, Israeli-owned (through a UK company) Central Park:
The Pentagon is now saying they were Somalis, not Houthis. However, the Houthis did fire two missiles at the American destroyer engaged in the rescue operation, both of which crashed into the ocean about ten knots away.

Hamas has released a letter that they're claiming was written by hostage Danielle Aloni before she was released, which was 100% totally not written under duress and/or fabricated in its entirety:

To the generals who accompanied me in the past few weeks, it seems we will part ways tomorrow.

However, I sincerely thank you from the depths of my heart for your extraordiary humanity shown towards my daughter Emilia. You've treated her like parents, inviting her to your rooms, making her feel that you're not just friends but true, caring loved ones.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the countless hours you spent as caregivers. Thanks for being patient with her, indulging her in sweets and fruits, and providing everything even when it wasn't readily available. Kids shouldn't be in prison, but thanks to you and the other kind people we met along the way.

My daughter considered herself a queen in Gaza and, in general, acknowledges feeling like the center of the world. Throughout our long journey, we encountered individuals from various ranks and leadership, and each treated her with gentleness, warmth, and love.

I will forever be a captive of gratitude because she didn't leave here with a lasting psychological shock. I'll remember your kind actions despite the difficult situation you were dealing with personally and the tough losses you faced here in Gaza. If only in this world, we could truly appreciate being kind friends. I wish you all good health and well-being.

I wish health and love to you and your families. Thank you very much.

Danielle and Emilia

This University of Wisconsin professor, an enlightened academic, believes the letter is real (but definitely not because it's what he wishes were real):

ETA: This story broke my heart when I first heard it. What a relief that he was able to get her back. But, does anyone know why the IDF may have initially told him that she was dead? In that interview, he said the IDF told him, "We found Emily, she's dead." But I suppose it's possible that he was relaying his interpretation of what they told him? She was at Kibbutz Be'eri, which was pretty much burned to the ground. Maybe they found her possessions or DNA evidence of her being in a completely scorched house and then ran with it?

I'm pretty sure they found another girl's burned body that was somehow misidentified as hers. Emily was at the kibbutz for a sleepover, so presumably the parents of the other girls there were also dead, unlike Emily's dad who was elsewhere, which probably slowed down identification of bodies. Maybe they thought there were 3 girls at the sleepover but there were actually 4, and they only figured out someone was missing once they did a population + cadaver count of the whole kibbutz. That's just speculation on my part because it's too depressing to look into further.

How long ago did the letter come out?

I assume a freshly released hostage has more important things to do than browse xitter or telegram channels and publicly react to what they see there.
I haven't seen anyone credible claiming it was fake and many say the Jews have a pretty good grasp of the media. Stockholm Syndrome is a real thing. I guess we'll see.

If that letter isn't real I'm pretty sure the person who purportedly wrote it might've said something by now no?

No, released hostages immediately bad-mouthing Hamas to the Israeli press would potentially fuck up the ongoing release of other hostages. It's already a precarious ceasefire agreement as is.

It likely is a real letter that was written under duress in order to be released.

Even if it's real, who cares? It was written while she was held hostage. People might say or do anything to avoid poor treatment, especially while held by terrorist scum who control your and your daughter's fate on being freed or continually held prisoner.

I agree, it's just fascinating watching people's biases immediately replace logic and reason. The guy I responded to sees this letter and immediately believes it's fake. That is a conditioned response and it's valuable to witness once aware.

Literally, it’s like the lady earlier in the month who went “Hamas treated us very well” and everyone was jumping on it as proof of them being benevolent captors, and it totally had nothing to do with the fact the rest of her family was still held hostage.

The same people who are supposedly experts on trauma and consent and rape culture and all the other therapy tropes suddenly jettison of all that when it gives them a chance to side with Daddy Hamas.

Apparently if I hold a gun on a man's wife and ask him if he wants to give me all his money, and he says "Yes, please take my money!" that means he actually wants to give me the money, and I haven't stolen anything or broken the law and I'm morally in the clear. Good to know!

Not like the letter is at all to be taken at face value, but "her" Arabic handwriting by the end of the letter is flawless.
