To be fair, if you look at how Jack Thomspon and Anita Sarquesian basically subverted the games industry into being a circlejerk of likeminded idiots, and how game companies will bend the knee to pander to a vocal minority of Twitter users for the glorious ESG points, that kind of response is actually refreshing to see. The backlash towards people mentioning that GTA and Saints Row doesn't have indoor areas anymore basically tells you everything about how soft the gaming community has gotten. Part of it is due to how the "modern audience" bullshit has been astroturfed by corporations that think it's easier to appeal to armchair activists than to release good games anymore.
We aren't talking about an Earl Dube or Ronnie Radke situation where they go nuclear at the slightest bit of criticism. That's different. Nemlei was clearly not backing down, just that people on the internet will act like you ran over their cat and raped it's dead carcass if you dare do anything slight to annoy them.
