Not to try to say my opinion is the only right one, but I don’t think anybody who has disagreed with my take has been able to explain why DSP isn’t a scammer, or why we should feel bad when scammers get their money fucked with. Until a compelling enough argument is made against that assertion—while Im not gonna endorse the actions of the hacker—im not gonna feel bad for Phil.

People are also giving DSP money because he says he’s desperate and needs your help, because if you don’t donate to support his free content, he won’t be able to pay his bills and his cat and horse will starve to death. I’m not trying to say the scams themselves are 1 to 1 equivalents, just that the logic of dismissing the people being tricked by the scam as stupid isn’t fair, and that it shouldn’t be done as a way of deflecting blame away from the persons doing the scamming.

What’s to even feel bad about at this point genuinely? What ultimately ended up as a minor annoyance resulted in:

1.) Phil almost assuredly getting this money back
2.) Phil making more money from sympathy bucks than he would’ve normally made today
3.) A new villain to endlessly either blame or invoke sympathy over
4.) Was likely given additional compensation for his trouble

Like this legitimately is the equivalent of speed bump, Phil basically had to deal with customer service for a few days and he unquestionably came out better financially and in the eyes of his fans after this

If you want to feel bad for Phil something to genuinely feel bad for him about is when he lost his twitch partnership(likely because of how much trolls reported him for every little thing) that was something that affected his income and family way more than this one dude at Comcast ever could

Look, hate Phil all you want, I get it. However, if this happened to most people it would change how they look at everything going forward. Phil is already a paranoid emotional wreck and now he has verifiable evidence that someone has actually been fucking with his internet over the course of months. This is just going to feed his paranoia and make him worse.
