People are also giving DSP money because he says he’s desperate and needs your help, because if you don’t donate to support his free content, he won’t be able to pay his bills and his cat and horse will starve to death. I’m not trying to say the scams themselves are 1 to 1 equivalents, just that the logic of dismissing the people being tricked by the scam as stupid isn’t fair, and that it shouldn’t be done as a way of deflecting blame away from the persons doing the scamming.

You can argue that not all people give to DSP because of his scam tactics, but the fact that some do and that he uses the tactics at all still makes him a scammer. If he didn’t need to employ those tactics to make money he wouldn’t do them, and then it actually would be as simple as morons paying a guy to be bad at games. But that is not the case, and hasn’t been for a very long time with Phil.

It sounds to me like he has good reason to be asking for money, the guy has an army of deranged criminal incels after him because he sucks at video games.

This dude has been whining about being poor and living paycheck to paycheck while spending thousands of dollars on a gacha game.
