It reminds me of the level of delusion those other teenage murderers were on, the two American girls who stabbed their classmate because they were obsessed with creepypastas and thought stabbing their classmate would send them to some creepypasta/Slenderman mansion in the woods (this was in 2014, the girls were 12). From what I could glimpse of the news coverage at the time, one of the girls was diagnosed with schizophrenia. The other just seems to be a psychopath or some shit, although she did reportedly show remorse.
The schizophrenic one got 40 to life, the other got 25 to life. The victim survived. I wouldn't be surprised if the kids in this situation were mentally fucked too.

There's a reason you're taught to shoot someone with a knife when they're still far away. The general rule of thumb for a non-moving attacker is 21 feet. If they're already running towards you then shoot first and ask questions later.
