Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

The more we learn about the game itself, the more hilarious and incompetent it gets. It's just as much of a shitshow as I was expecting. :story:

What's next, John ripped lines of code from other projects wholesale? Or are we going to see a massive scandal involving a musical piece(s) where John plagiarized entire songs?

But I'm most interested in ' Plot_A1S4_A_End_Idols,' - because the START code for this is oddly missing. Plus, with how literally blunt these code names are, 'idols' sticks out like a sore thumb.

As far as I can tell, "affinity idols" are what the game calls those intelligence pickups that give you a boost in rep with whichever of the insipid characters you give them to. There seem to be two of them in scene A1S4, at least that I've seen. I'm not sure if anything special actually happens if you get them, it's a bit annoying to find out because the enum names aren't in the code where the variable is set, just the value.

I'm not entirely sure if the special ending to that scene is implemented.

The major technical issues plaguing the game seems to confirm my theory that I formed walking home from Walmart, that as the Patreon gravy train slows and the Jace incident fades into a memory, John had to get back in the spotlight, and had to put the game out there even though it was extremely unfinished.

The Lowtax stream is brutal. The game is so bad and not even in a funny way. It's just a visual disaster and incredibly boring. The gameplay is something you'd expect out of a game from the early 90's.

God yes, I've played bits and pieces of it while experimenting. I can't fucking stand it. The horrible sluggish input coupled with the fact it actually queues your input commands, so you end up moving in combat to places you never meant. It's so amateurish.

I thought fucking Thomas Was Alone was poorly implemented and outstayed its welcome. This is on a whole different level.

Did she include her butchering of the cantina music from Star Wars?

Yep, in every second fucking scene. She's in love with that terrible track.

Honestly I'd rather it was just a walking sim. The typing sections and shitty battle parts are such poor excuses for gameplay they're almost insulting. And even though I don't mind the character models and general low poly style (although it was almost undoubtedly due to a lack of talent rather than an aesthetic choice), the general art direction is just ugly, too many shit textures.

So overall: this game is ugly and I would not fuck it.

Might be the easter egg Wu mentioned

Would explain why the start is missing, but the codes almost certainly refer to linear branching path decisions and it would not surprise me if it turned out to just be a slightly different alteration not worth giving a shit over.

What about the banal catfighting side-taking mechanic which as we found out, if you don't play sides leads to Crimson something-something killing everyone anyway? I want to know where the decision maker for that 'rocks fall everyone dies' trigger lies.

Oh, of course. This game is not meant to exist had Wu's plans gone right. People were supposed to FORGET about it going to Steam.
