Hopping over to Bahrain (it’s known as the Pub at the End of the Causeway….you can drive there) is common practice for Kuwaiti and Saudi men. In Bahrain they can drink alcohol legally (and getup to another fun activities, if you follow my meaning). Bahrain is the party centre for the stricter states.
Smol pl. I lived in Bahrain fora couple of years and all you saw was Saudi and Kuwait cars come flooding down the causeway every weekend and party with alcohol and questionable women. I fully believe the Temubile is or will be heading that way at some point, if it isn’t now. I don’t know if it would count as a visa run. I don’t see why it couldn’t, but he’d have to take her with him.
If Salah and Alaa did go together, it makes sense. It would have been a boys’ party time. I am liking the idea that Salah took his shiny, new Chinese Deathtrap across the causeway to party, leaving Chantal as miserable as she’s ever been, devoid of ALL coping mechanisms and ALL fun in her life.
I think she’ll be back in Canada soon, unless her health devolves further and she’s too unwell to travel. In which case they’ll be broke in the ME.
I’m happy. There is no bad end to this, for us. Either he has dumped her after getting a nicer apartment and a new, shiny car, and she’ll have to scuttle back to Canada to pretend he hasn’t. She just had to go back and of course, he had to stay. She’ll still write comments from him to ‘prove’ he’s still around. It will be interesting to to see what she does when she’s back in Canada.
If she stays, she’ll get more miserable, whether he stays or not (she’s not in love with him. She’s in love the idea of a husband to show off). She’ll cave into her bad eaiting habits and get sicker and sicker. Spending more and more money on healthcare and send them both broke.
I foresee some very entertaining outcomes as a reward for those of us sticking around to see the grand finale. I guess she could just not wake up one morning (or afternoon) which would be a kinda boring end. But then hopefully we get to see how Salah, his family and her family respond. It will speak volumes about how they truly regard her. Will they be respectful and pay for a proper send off, or pay for repatriation. Or will Salah roll her out into the desert and leave her there.
