You're missing the part where segregated public resources were often neglected because of their lower social status.
No. This isn't BET.
Are you familiar with Brown V Topeka? Now someone correct me if I'm wrong here but I recall in this case they found that things were indeed equal however black people specifically children perceived themselves as unequal because of segregation. It was for this specific reason "separate but equal" was abolished and maybe you do not live in the united states but, the results look like this: if you are white and forced go to public school in say Chicago, god fucking help you. Not because you won't receive a proper education, not because colleges wouldn't give you the same chance as a black student (this was only changed recently) but, you will be threatened, assaulted, robbed and beaten.
I think it's also well worth a mention similar cases and situations like the "Rosa Parks Bus incident" were happening just 3 years later. Why does this matter? Rosa Parks and the NAACP staged the bus incident, originally it was a 15-16 year old girl? Who refused to give up her seat for an elderly white man or woman? I forget. Now the NAACP thought this sent the wrong message, a sassy teenager being a little cunt? No no no, we need someone more relatable and they chose Rosa Parks, a light skinned woman with glasses and then planned the event and even to this day Wikipedia doesn't even have the true story. Why is this important? Because The NAACP was ALSO involved in Brown V Topeka, is this all starting to make sense now?
