Plagued Encyclopedia Dramatica - Capitulation: The Thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I want a version of it that's not half built of mid-late 00s millenial "humor", there's only so much "at least over 9000 last thursday (blatant excuse to crosspipe to Offended)" anyone can take at once
There is a version of that which does exist.
It's called “Know your meme”.

Edit: the people reacting to this post have poor reading comprehension, it seems.

I have fond memories of reading ED on an iPod touch in 2011. Encyclopedia Dramatica introduced me to Chris-Chan and all sorts of bizarre Internet culture. It was cathartic to read, I was going through some hard times back then. I didn’t really care about the ancient livejournal retardation, but reading about Project Chanology and HACKERS ON STEROIDS was extremely enjoyable. If it’s gone for good, that’s ok. I’ll miss it, but nothing of value was lost o7 o7.

Was ED excluded from the internet archive? If so, it should be archived somewhere.
The problem is that a lot of images aren't properly archived. The majority of articles have been thoroughly crawled by the Wayback Machine (very often even over the multiple top-level domains) but most pics are only available as thumbnails.

This is going to sound a bit pretentious, perhaps, but I think Encyclopedia Dramatica is useful and interesting in much the same way as ancient religious texts are useful and interesting.

It's a window on days gone by, from an earlier age, with people trying to make sense of the world around them as they saw it. And there's a lot of wisdom there, if you know where to look for it, because the world hasn't really changed all that much.

Yeah, ED was a decent resource for some early lolcows and internet memes, and in a way their simple wiki format is better in digesting info than a forum where there might be pages before new info, which can easily be missed through all the noise
>highlights
My memes have been highlighted in the Patrick thread while some of his insane tweets have not.

But at least most of us know to archive so that they can't say a screenshot was fake. Expect Patrick. He says an arrest record is fake.

Same.

It's one of the last parts of Old Internet that exists and has ruthlessly skewered a LOT of people who fucking deserve it. But for the last...IDK...15 years maybe? New content has heavily trended pro-troon/pedo/fag/Jew and been written like absolute gobshit.

It would be absolute lulz to seize the domain, take all the archived content (like from Wayback Machine) do a LONG-overdue cleanup and drop articles on every current freak on the Farms.

ED is a relic of a bygone era. The only articles that get consistently updated and viewed anymore are High Score articles, and Chris Chan and anything relating to his current situations. The rest of the articles are usually created, edited once, and then left to rot, also doesn't help that the average userbase shrunk a shit-ton a while ago, meaning that articles are still stuck in like 2015.

I do feel like it should stay up as a piece of history.

The ED Forums though... Nobody on Earth uses them anymore, it's just 5 schizos who post once a year.

The Cyraxx article is weirdly up-to-date. It lacks pictures, but it's maintained better than other current-year cows.
The Great Sonic-cide of 2008 must be preserved and ED is the only place I know of that has anything from it.
Yes. Absolutely. I miss stuff like the Great Sonic-Cide, because it was almost quaint to have these DeviantArt kids say they kill themselves with bricks and knives. Bricks and fucking knives!

It also has a lot of stuff like articles on now-dead cows like Shay (the fatso who literally shit the bed and died).
