I'm just glad I'll never have to fucking see another James Somerton video reccomended to me, they get reccomended just enough to where I fucking hate them every time but not enough to where I have the energy to actually block his videos.
IH plagiarism controversey was an issue that was completely handled behind the scenes that HBomber is only bringing up because he hates IH for still having a following despite associating with people Hbomber doesn't like, hence why he doesn't go after someone like Hasan who straight up steals content for his streams because he is friends with him.

Once again we don't know what happened behind the scenes. I could be right with my saying that nothing happened. You could be right with IH being a backstabbing cheapsake. Neither of us know. All we can do is speculate on what happened, and since the original copyright holder isn't making a big stink over what happened I'm safe in assuming things were smoothed over behind the scenes like adults.

- The video went down after a copyright claim.
- The video was reuploaded months later with everything plagiarized changed and the original author cited as inspiration.
- IH never admits wrongdoing.

If IH had not plagiarized the article, he would have fought it. But he didn't. He took it down. The video went up changed. This means he knows he plagiarized the article. If the author had come to an agreement with him to allow this copy, he would have restored the video unedited. But he didn't. That means their compromise is that he'd rewrite everything and credit him, but would not actually purchase rights to the writing he copied.
This is an assumption but it is literally the only logical determination.

You're forgetting that he also sourced the original article in the new reupload? Why would he source the original source if he was trying to hide everything? Again you're assuming this was a direct fuck up on IH's behalf. What if it was one of his editors who got lazy or just fucked up?
Hell if you want an example of this look at what happened with Cavemananon and what they discovered. One of the musicians plagiarized music, and no one caught it until several years after the fact. They came out with everything (something IH didn't do I'll agree with you on that) but again you're assuming malice when incompetence fits in just as well.

He's a guy that makes funny videos you enjoy and having the illusion that he's someone who "puts a lot into research into his videos" broken can be upsetting, specially if the one breaking the illusion is the faggot whose thread we're currently on.
But come on! You don't need "a lot of research" or the skills of a good writer to do retellings of epic 4chan/social media incidents.

Pretty much exactly what the person described, they smoothed it over and its a non issue.
I would not be surprised at all if IH didn't even realize the article were plagiarized, he clearly works on multiple projects at a time, and delegates it to a team of animators/writers, he's not a one man show. It seems to me that its likely an identical situation to the AVGN plagiarism occured and it wasn't caught, and when it was it was immediately fixed with a credit to the original author.

IH should have credited the author but the video is still pretty entertaining with the animations and voiceovers. That's the most charitable takeaway. Imo the dashcon video holds up pretty well and Hbomb is just being snooty. IH doesn't really make fun of the attendees so much as the organisers (who deserve it). Hbomb's criticisms remind me a bit of JelloApocalypse retroactively disowning his tumblr video, but then that was different because JA actually was making jokes about trannies and so on. IH poked a bit of fun but, again, it was mostly towards the convention staff and their shitty handling of things.
The first half of the hbomb video is boring tbh. It's weaker than the oof video and the vaccines one. Most of it is comparing clips from shitty youtubers but then not going into much more detail. I'd watch a video about cinemassacre on its own. Also, wasn't pretty much everyone aware by now that iluminaughtii or whatever is a plagiarist and a content mill hack? Those ''''''animation''''' commentary channels have been dropping in relevence for months because other content mills are scooping up their audiences of 'people who leave youtube playing the background while they do other things'.
It's a consistent theme in Hbomb's videos that he feels the need to be overly dissaproving of edgy 'lol furries' style content because he knows that he used to be involved in exactly that sort of content and he's anxious about looking bad. Imo he should just be upfront about it and move on- plenty of other breadtube types have turned around after being edgy boys in the '10s. Then again, being associated with Metokur isn't a good vibe due to the association with Jim so maybe it's just gonna have to be his albatross.

Hbomberguys content is decent, it's well written and he's eloquent. He's a faggot though, so when he interjects his content with the LGBT shit then it loses value. He brought up IH's past videos where he was edgy and made fun of tumblr and furries, but then said it happened 6 years ago and didn't want to judge him on it....then why bring it up at all? Feels like he's just sprinkling in his goodboy-takes because that's just how things are now.
One other thing I noticed during the video was that he was happy to say he was going to donate all his earnings from that video to da gayz that had their shit plagiarized, but he doesn't extend it to the other people in the video that were plagiarized?

What surprises me about the plagiarism is not the fact it happened, but how blatant it was.
Lifting the "hour-by-hour" narrative framing of the article is one thing but he'd be able to get away with that. The problem is the script actually copied segments of the article verbatim. That is so extremely blatant that if he was the one who wrote the script and he thought this was totally OK, similar occurrences would probably surface in a ton of different videos he's done. It wouldn't be hard to figure out. Type parts of his scripts into Google and see if anything comes up. I don't care enough to to try, but it's safe to say people are trying it.
If no other plagiarism is out there, then my guess is that he's started outsourcing scriptwriting and whoever he hired to ghostwrite the cave video was lazy and lifted someone else's work in a really obvious way. I don't know enough about him to know if he's confirmed that people help him with the writing or research. If he hasn't that's my guess why there's been silence.
