The mother of the hulking Florida teen who beat his female teacher unconscious over a Nintendo Switch video game claimed prison time would be a “death sentence” for her convicted son.

Leanne Depa pleaded for leniency for the now-18-year-old Brendan Depa, who faces up to 30 years behind bars for slamming Matanzas High School paraprofessional Joan Naydich to the floor before kicking and punching her in the back and head more than a dozen times.

In her first public appearance since the February beatdown, the grieving mother Wednesday begged Naydich to request that the 6-foot-6 teenager be handed a lighter punishment.

“I am so sorry for what my son did and nobody should ever have to go through that,” Leanna Depa said on an appearance on NewsNation’s “Banfield” through tears.

“But at the same time, please consider that my son has had a hard life and he’s gone through so much trauma in his life. He has autism. Please show mercy to him.”

Brendan Depa pleaded guilty last month to beating Naydich over the video game when he was just 17, leaving her with five broken ribs, hearing loss and what she claims are ongoing cognitive problems.

The disturbing incident — and teachers’ futile attempts to stop the attack — was captured on the school’s surveillance footage.

Naydich has previously told NewsNation that she wants her attacker sentenced to the maximum of 30 years behind bars.

“I feel like if he gets sentenced to prison, it’s a death sentence for him. He’s scared. And to have your child call and cry and say, ‘I don’t want to die’ — it’s awful,” Leanne Depa said.

The mourning mom blamed a laundry list of mental disabilities and a history of childhood trauma for her son’s behavior — and questioned why he was even permitted inside the Florida public school.

Brendan Depa — who grapples with severe autism, ADHD, oppositional defiance disorder and reactive explosive disorder — was placed in the school by his intensive behavioral group home despite his time at an autism behavioral hospital just two years earlier, she said.

“I had always homeschooled him because he didn’t handle the school environment. I asked the group home, ‘Did he have to go to public school? Could he not do school online?’ And I was assured by them that all of their clients went to public school,” Leanne Depa said.

“I never thought he belonged in public school. I didn’t have a choice.”

Leanne Depa added that he should have never been near the Nintendo Switch during school hours and that a crisis team is typically called before professionals take the game away.

Naydich said she had never taken the game away from the teenager, but that he lashed out after another faculty member prohibited him from playing with it.

Brendan Depa’s behavioral issues, particularly his autism, do not constitute a defense in Florida, according to the mother.

The teenager was initially charged as a juvenile before the federal raps were upgraded.

The troubled teen had three prior battery arrests before the assault on Naydich and was reportedly involved in a jail fight in September.

Brendan Depa is being held on a $1 million bond. His sentencing hearing will begin in January.

Here's a bonus for you, sick bastards.

I do feel bad for this guy if he's turbo-retarded, but I felt bad for Old Yeller too. There is simply no way around the fact that he's dangerous and violent and will never be safe in open society, that has been amply demonstrated by his behavior. His family has clearly only been barely able to tard-wrangle him up to his point with huge expenditures from several government programs, and even then the slightest misstep led to this woman getting almost killed. It's like those morons who raise a tiger in their house: they may have things completely covered 99% of the time, but all it takes is one bad day and people will wind up dead. If he won't be euthanized, he needs to be kept somewhere secure.

Living in texas with no A/C? now that's torture, just shoot the guys ffs its more humane...

Dude, the heat was the worst part of that job. By far, like nothing else even came close. And when you can say that about a ghetto ass state-run penitentiary full of mostly 18 to 35 year old convicts that didn't have any cameras inside of it until almost the year 2020 and probably saw more combat inside its walls during its life than the fucking Colosseum, you know that heat was bad. The Ferguson Unit was technically the hottest unit 'temperature-wise' that I worked at (also the one I was at the longest)...but The Stiles Unit down in Beaumont was a whole different kind of miserable. 100% humidity. Every. Fucking. Day. I have been out of the system for years and still sometimes have nightmares about being locked inside of a concrete oven.

Each year we had many deaths from the heat, countless injuries from the heat, it was regularly over 100 degrees inside of each one of those blocks and hallways, even worse on 3-Row where the heat rises and gets trapped, and you got zero breeze. Never felt any kind of breeze not ever. In the 1980's they put these big ass fans up in the pickets to blow out onto the blocks but they did literally nothing to cool down or even increase airflow unless you stood right in front of it. Half the time, the fans were broken and I rarely saw them get fixed. At Stiles, there were big plexiglass windows everywhere just to make it even more stagnant.

It's been like this and worse for over 100 years in Texas prisons. The convict that is in that article was from my home unit, too. Ferguson out by Midway, just north of Huntsville. I did 10 years in the system and each year was worse than the last when it came to heat. We have the only Penal Farm system in the whole country where it's actually cooler and a hell of a lot more comfortable to fall out for Field Squad in the morning and go work your ass off hoeing in the field kickin rocks and picking corncobs and greens all day long like a fucking slave.

You know, I would feel sorry about the adoptive mom, but then I realized she's just like every retarded white bitch who "rescues" pit bulls. She she rescued an aggressive breed from an abusive situation, which was compounded by its unknown genetic lineage (other than melanated) . She then proceeded to baby it and not give it the proper training, insuring it was a disaster waiting to happen. by the time she realized she was in over her head and couldn't do shit she started foisting it off on state run daycare, and decided to go full denial and blame everyone but herself.

Oh course just like any delusional "velvet hippo" owner her creature attacked someone again, and this time it almost killed a person, so now it needs to be put down.
she cries, and pleads and begs the victim to forgive her lil baby because "it's not his fault"

Well guess what bitch? It's 100% your fault, and you should rot in prison too.

It's been kinda wild to see people on Twitter say it's the woman's fault this happened.

Bring back asylums. Pump this retard with sedatives and call it a day.
There are people that are convinced we need to be sympathetic to the giant, angry potato. A lot of them are in the neurodiversity circles. Man, just about anyone wouldn't get off scot-free from that, so why the hell should this fucker get off without punishment? People like him are retarded, but unlike those suckers, they're not stupid.

I guess being a nigger in addition to being retarded helps. He's at the top of the oppression stack, so he can kill as many white wimmenz as he wants. He be curb stompin crackas n shiet.

I hate it, it should be illegal to penalize someone's job because they didn't do something in the legal system that their employer wanted.
Generally it is, but workplace retaliation is one of those things that's notoriously difficult to prove unless the perpetrator slips up and accidentally spills the beans on their motives. There's always some "legitimate" excuse you can make to screw someone over.

Does the heat make them more insane, since heat tends to make people nasty, or was it so hot that people didn't want to actually move?

A little bit of both actually, depending on just how hot it was that day. It certainly didn't make anyone friendly. I tell you it was oppressive and constant. It did often reach levels where people just wanted to stay in the house with their faces pressed onto the grill of their tiny commissary fan, of which they were allowed to own one. I let them borrow and trade around as many fans as they needed during my shifts, if it ever came to that, since sometimes there were temporary spares on the block for various reasons. though it was technically against the rules, it would have been pretty inhumane and unnecessarily cruel to deny such a simple request.

When working a block it was also the block officer's responsibility to pass out any cold icewater, if any happened to get carted down the hallway in one of the big Gatorade coolers that day. Sometimes we got it. They were supposed to bring cold water to everyone at least twice every single day by policy, but like with lots of stuff, you really never knew if you were going to get jack squat of anything you needed on any given day. The Gatorade cooler was extremely heavy, it was one of those big orange ones, and you had to carry it full of icewater up 3 flights of stairs all the way down 1, 2, and 3 rows of 26 cells each, on two separate blocks, as often as you deemed necessary to water your convicts so none of them fucking stroked out or died of hyperthermia. But it was actually worth it to put in the effort. Cold water in that heat was more valuable than gold to them on hot days and if you took care of their water, 100% of the time they were just going to behave and keep themselves in line without you having to holler or smack anyone not even once, since a lot of other officers didn't even bother to pass out the water even once in the day due to weakness, laziness, or a combination of both. You'd be surprised at just how many chances in a single shift a boss gets to just completely fuck over an inmate.

To make the whole thing just a little extra hellish, the entire building seemed to retain almost every last god damned degree of the day's heat all throughout the night and into the next morning where the cycle would start anew. So, in the end, the only time of day it wasn't hot as fuck in there was "never".

ANYWAY. I could honestly go on and on and on about how poor the conditions were but I'll stop myself here so I don't ramble any more. At the end of the day, you basically just had to get used to all of it.

Is there some reason that 'tards often seem to be ridiculously huge? This guy is apparently 6'6 and rather stocky.

Perhaps it's merely a confirmation bias thing, the large ones are the type to be noticed.

The smaller ones are often easier to handle when they spaz out, the most you'll get is scratches and bruises. Worst case scenario they break skin or bite and you have to take a trip to the ER. The bigger ones are impossible to control unless they either wear themselves out or knock themselves out. It's the driving reason as to why you need strongmen as orderlies to handle these giga tards.

I thought "but what was she wearing when she got dragged down the alley" was supposed to be verboten?

If he is uncontrollable to this extent then prison for as long as possible is the solution. Too many these days subscribe to the prison is about rehabilitation rather than prison is about keeping society safe from people incompatible with that society. The guy will attack people again and again if left to run free because he has zero ability to live in society. The options are lock him away or put him down because those are the only things that will prevent someone innocent getting killed.

Broken ribs, concussion with possible brain damage, permanent loss of hearing in one ear. Fuck these people. We joke about the NPC meme, but this seems to be that come to life. In the most terrifying way imaginable.

I hope the vic sues the school system for 8 figures, first digit not a one, and wins every penny.

One thing nobody seems to be noting is that if the perp tard raged here is there any evidence he wouldn't act out again in similar circumstances? As in, anything that irritates him in even the most mild of fashions?

Well this is at least episode 4. Unfortunately a certain class of people will always excuse tards and nigs no matter what they do and what the consequences of that are.
