I applied for a job at Burger King so I can spend time thinking about burgers instead but I don't know if that's the optimal solution. Can some wise kiwi guide me to finding peace? This made me realize the Ukraine's military and their relative success at being not utterly BTFO is like the IRL version of what happens when you use cheat codes in a strategy game to give yourself infinite supplies, money, research, and lift the fog of war. It's actually fascinating to see in action, but horrifying that all this shit is coming out of my wallet and not a bunch of computer code.

Hopefully come 2024 the Ukrops will be playing on Ironman mode and the cheat console will be disabled.

So it's been a month or so of the Russian winter counter-counter-offensive and they've already shown up Ukraine's attempt earlier this year. So much for muh Ukrainian militiary supremacy and muh NATO equipment & training. The political tide is turning on Zelensky, the country is showing rifts internally, and they aren't having an easy time with manpower or equipment.

Since KingCobraJFS started brewing his own hooch I have made homebrewing a hobby but 99% of that hobby consists of waiting. I'd like to have a nice, relaxing hobby (so not something too physical) but being a terminally online neet my imagination is pretty limited

Ukraine has already defaulted on its sovereign debt. They ceased paying on it in 2022. In July 2022, the major credit rating agencies including S&P downgraded the debt to "default" rating.

But inexplicably they re-evaluated the situation in a month later and raised the debt out of default even though Ukraine was still not servicing the debt. The reasoning was that because Ukraine intended to "restructure" the debts and it was not going to be paying in the future, that it was not in default.

The logic was that they could not be in default on the debt because they had no intention to pay the debt and would have an agreement in future to restructure the value of the debt down to nothing. Which is a default.

Beyond the direct money being sent by the west to Ukraine, there are vast amounts of money being lent to Ukraine for which there is no prospect of them ever paying it back and there are vast amounts of Ukrainian currency on the books of international institutions which also has no real value.

All these losses are going to have to be recognized at some point and there is the real possibility of an international financial problem when that happens.

There are reports that Russia has produced a Shahed-136 with a 40kg Theromobaric Warhead, a Pro-Russian said on X that the explosive power would be equivalent to that of a FAB-250 (don't know how true that is and I can't find the post in question. TOS-1A missiles have a warhead weight of 45kg according to one site but I don't know if that's in reference to the original missiles, the later upgraded missiles or the latest 10km range missile that uses a new, more powerful thermobaric mixture)

There was an interesting observation by someone in the KVAF years ago when a certain Big Person was making tours for photos and propaganda in the USA.

The biggest danger to aircraft AFAIK is maintenance crews that are subcontractors whose hourly pay, measured in cents, is about equal to the number of brain cells they posses. A couple wrong screws can and has caused major disasters and near-misses.

Ukraine is being frank and is actually correct on this issue, it needs shells and a ridiculous amount of them just to meet parity to Russia's artillery expenditures. The American military used to be the king of bombardment during WW2 and Korea because there was a view that infantry assaults were patently retarded and a waste of manpower, that artillery of all things was allowed to atrophy shows that the US has its head up its own ass regarding efficient weaponry, we're way too addicted to high performance and wasteful platforms, preferring to fly a F-16 to a minor infantry skirmish to drop a JDAM rather than pop off 10-20 artillery rounds.

As for the other stuff, I'm really getting the vibe that Zelensky's star has faded and they're gesturing to him to exit the stage, but he probably is too vain at this point to do so and he will have to be ventilated or exploded to get him to leave since he is refusing to allow elections. Likely Zaluzhnyi is the one NATO wants to assume leadership and fade into the background like Afghanistan and Iraq did, monthly installments of aid but zero press coverage over the war indefinitely.
