Ads are fine in a regular cheapie comic book, but isn't Isom a "Graphic Novel" that costs a heap more than what Marvel and DC put out?

I would be fucking furious if I had bought Isom and saw that it had ads in it.

I think it's as simple as he made Vito and EVS look bad by doing what they promised got paid to do and are yet to deliver on.

I don't think Maddox was ever poised to win. I think the best he could have hoped for was to slip into obscurity, and then smile silently from the sidelines as Dick & co. inevitably destroy themselves.

Unfortunately, because he's doing this, he's given Dick the excuse to beat the dead horse some more. It seems like an error on his part. A lot of people he has beef with seem pretty doomed at this point and don't require any intervention from Maddox or anyone else. Hell, look at Digibro. His life is ultra-fucked at this point. Depends. Marvel, DC, and Image typically only have ads for their other books in their graphic novels but I've seen smaller publishers like Boom, IDW, and Dark Horse (and other indies) do it.

You put what people consider undeserving targets in there, and it'll give people a lot of righteous anger to operate off of.

Even when I liked Dick and was rooting for him during the lawsuit, I was under no illusion that I thought he'd be a good person to interact with. Even at the time it was very obvious he was only looking for a way to extract monetization from whatever was the flavor of the day. Of course, that's a natural need if you're making a podcast as a product, but it was also around that time that I noticed a lot of people who were part of the culture of the show were leaving because Dick was very stingy with them even at a time when he was making a lot. I don't think it was a coincidence, and I think a lot of the content creators were disenchanted with him as a result (apart from the people who became self sufficient, like Rekieta). Over time as the actual content from the lawsuit waned, so did the drive behind his content. Every other feud, continuing to today, felt very forced. It's been so forced for so long that I don't know that he'll properly capitalize on it today. He'll certainly try, but he's been grasping at straws for so long that now that he's got something substantial he'll fumble it. The show doesn't have the culture it used to, and he's not likable.

Graphic novels typically at least have ads for the publisher's other books. Companies like Boom do absolutely put ads in their graphic novels. I have boxes upon boxes of comics. More than half of them are graphic novels. I know there's ads in some of them.
