In the mind of a brilliant software engineer like Brianna Wu, old electronics hardware that still has practical applications is the exact same as an email service that she doesn't prefer.

Of course it's not about whether cabled audio is old and obsolete or not. For Apple, it's all about control.

People were using the audio jack as a crude serial port, and making unlicensed 3rd party accessories. They can't police who uses the audio APIs, but they can just take away the port.

People who want to work with the iPhone need to pay Apple, that's the policy. No exceptions. Wu doesn't understand this, or at least pretends not to because she's a hopeless fanboy.

I personally haven't had any lock-ups or crashes, but I have seen a few fucking hilarious bugs so far and a number of incidents that show a complete lack of playtesting.

I’ve noticed a game called Revolution 60 has been released, which doesn’t include the cut scenes – which the game classes as DLC and charges you for. Will GC be reviewing it?

Nobody who has been having issues has posted the graphics cards they're using, but the crashing or other performance issues might be caused by having a certain GPU family. I only played through enough of the game to see that it would run without issue, and this machine was built last year with no expense spared on everything but the GPU because I wasn't intending to do much gaming and I wanted something I knew would be OS X compatible for a Hackintosh build. It may be that if you don't have an Nvidia card, it's a coin flip as to whether something will be going wrong. We just don't have the information or sample size to see what.

It's not too strange. Low keying it was the alternative to pretending it doesn't exist. If Hosk didn't give his ultimatum, we'd still be saying "WHERE'S THE GAME, JOHN" and Wu would still be making irrelevant tweets.

The people looking to make fun of it on launch day and "cash in" have already done so. BroTeam did a stream, Lowtax did a stream. There are likely a few other streamers who've given it the kusoge treatment and that's that. There will probably be some stragglers who will stream it this Friday or this weekend, but I'm guessing beyond this coming weekend it'll be forgotten about.

It's less about control and more about battery power. iOS eats batteries like Alison Rapp eats doritos (it's one of the largest differentiating factors between them and android, apart from general software/user customization philosophy), the 3.5mm jack was the next biggest thing they thought they could get away with getting rid of in favor of more battery. Apple just has a fanbase of rubes who won't get upset about having to pay more for extra dongles for all their peripherals. After all, they were able to release the 1 port wonder that is the new Macbook Air.

Expect more of the hangers-on like Samsung to remove it as well once Apple has proven the Western market will tolerate the lack of a 3.5mm jack. Only Asian-focused manufacturers like Asus or LG may keep them going forward.

I might have close family who are hardware engineers for the iPhone. Also, by all accounts the iPhone 7 had a very troubled production and if you ARE an Apple user, I'd wait for the 8.

I don't know about those other guys, but I didn't do it to "cash in." Let me detail exactly what happened that day:

1) I found out the game was released on Steam
2) I went to the store page, saw the horrendous art and trailer video, and knew I had to download it
3) I played it for five minutes and was absolutely blown away by its sheer incompetence
4) I ran upstairs to my wife and screamed "I am going to be streaming a game within the next hour, it's so bad that I just gotta. It's by that Brianna Wu person we saw on the SciFi Network about being stalked" and she replied "the one who looked like a tranny mule?" and I said "yes that's the one, please take care of baby, I'm so excited to do this" and I ran back downstairs to start streaming

I wish I could "cash in" on my videos, but I'm incredibly unpopular so, at most, maybe I'll earn a cool $5 for the video. I'm not like the rich fellers who pull in big buck$$$ by making 19 Minecraft videos a day.
