It's a game with over 70 million monthly active users, around half are female and around 75% are minors, unsolicited direct messaging, 18+ games with voicechat that anyone can get into if they take a photo of their mom's driver's license, a chat moderation team that was replaced with some shitty third party AI filter made in around 2015, the ability for any user to upload images, 3d models, and audio with poor moderation, the ability for users to create 3d animations without any moderator approval, a userbase including a cohort of 20-30 year old hyperautists who never outgrew the game, and custom games with private servers. It's a miracle there's not more groomers on the website than there already are

Originally the World War II community was included in the original OP as being the prime example of ROBLOX autism, but has since been discarded in favor of a better OP because frankly, the original OP was shit. So I will have to explain this obscure and esoteric block game knowledge from the Early 2010s.

One of the people that I talked about in the original OP is a homosexual ex-Northwest Front member turned maoist named Lewisado (also goes by HerrKrieg, EmperorKronenzoren, Leutgard, and countless other usernames. A man who has made multiple German World War II groups with differing names, and he's been doing this since 2009. This may surprise you but ROBLOX has actually tried banning him and his groups multiple times, but much like a cockroach he some how finds a way to persist even in the harshest of conditions.

With all that said, I do not believe ROBLOX moderation will change even with pressure from mainstream outlets. The ROBLOX Corporation will spout empty platitudes about how they will do something, but never end up doing anything at the end of the day for whatever reason.

I suppose internet literacy was higher than it was now. I still remember the stranger danger PSAs and PBS telling you not to give out your password or personal information. That said I think there is a balance between parents doing their part, and sites like Roblox actually doing so due diligence and referring pedos to the cops. Parents can do only so much, especially if kids are more retarded, especially when both parents are likely working. I'm asking for a middle ground solution.

Internet literacy was higher among people who were online. It was much lower overall, but the kids who had internet were much more likely to have attentive parents and have learned some internet lessons, as opposed to being dumb joyriders.

Ehh... I feel like it was really the early 00's spike of weebery that really started this, because it created this "kids stuff is for adults too" mindset. Or allowed it to take root publicly, anyhow. The whole toys and tshirts and waifu body pillows thing predated bronies by years. And that had, and continues to have, a far greater amount of wider public acceptance than bronies had even at their height.

There's nothing wrong with adults loving kids things on it's own. You're allowed to have a sense of childlike wonder as an adult, you're allowed to think that Peanuts or Garfield or Marmaduke is cool until you're 90. Liking kid things isn't a problem.

What the problem is is that we've stopped paying attention to unhealthy, unnatural obsession. Partially as a reaction - Anyone who was deeply into anything used to be ostracized, There's no longer any social immune reaction like that. So-called "Adults" are likely to be deeply obessed with kids shows and kids things, and that puts them on the same level mentally as kids, and so they see kids as peers. It's no wonder we're seeing so many more child predators when we have adults with childlike lack of emotional control - These adults are mentally children, and don't see how fucking creepy it is that they're trying to relate to kids as peers.

I also remember that society and parents in general did a better job of alerting minors as to what pedophiles were, how to spot one and how to avoid them. There seems to be no such Internet contraceptive activism these days, all that is relegated to social media companies, gov'ment and AI to sort out, while tablets and phones are just a tool to make your rowdy ADHD "diagnosed" kid shut up.

You're right, I actually thought back on my internet habits as a kid, and until I had a laptop in high school, being home alone was a luxury.
If you're browsing the internet on the family computer in the living room, you're more likely to be careful where you browse simce you don't want to click the wrong link at the wrong time.

Thank you. Those that grew up with the 90s/early 00s web have no reference to what most of gen z had to deal with and the nightmare that alpha is and is going to have to deal with, as is the inverse. The amount of this shit on the web and how easy it is for those that don't even know how to use file explorer to access is incomparable to how it was. Yet still, it isn't a competition, I'm not sure why this has gotten to the shit-flinging level it has the past few pages. No kid should have to deal with what these 'people' do and yet so many of us have brushed with it in some way, there needs to be a real solution, but the one we've got is decent and works way better than giving your toddler an ipad. Just kick your kids off the general web until they're at least in their teens and personally educate them about what the fuck goes on online.
