Period pieces are the best way to do cities.

If someone is going to do a more modern GTA than Texas is the obvious setting to me. I also think Watch_Dogs 2 being set in San Francisco was a great idea, although badly executed.
A modern day Texas in GTA would basically be just like a much larger Blaine county, but with less Mount Chiliad and at least one major city geographically structured like Las Venturas and more looping freeways. Maybe also toss in a riverwalk. You know, blend together Dallas, San Antonio, and maybe Houston or Galveston alongside all the smaller, by the roadside towns and cities that are way more rural.

I was thinkin San Andreas style with three cities and three rural areas. Desert Mexican South Texas/San Antonio, Forest Black/Cajun East Texas/Austin-Houston-Galveston hybrid, Plains White/Injun North Texas/Dallas. Lot of stories to tell with cartels, but a ton of human variety to play with.

Edit: Think about it, name a game set in Texas. You would think there would be a shit ton, and there are none.

i want a game set on the border of mexico. you treat it like san diego/tijuana basically where you could have two major cities but both sit across from each other on the map. you can make crossing the border a mechanic in the game by either doing it legally or illegally

this one only popped up after i posted and i refuse to edit my post
Every time you hijack a vehicle the radio will greet you with a chiquita latinx rapid-firing Spanglish obscenities. I'd rather listen to a drawer full of silverware being force-fed down the garbage disposal.
modern latin pop my beloved cant wait

Meh. When the Haitians complained after GTAVC came out, they just replaced them with Mexicans in VC Stories. What goes around comes around.
They explicitly classified the Mexican gangbangers as Cholos. As such, the Cubans gang in VCS was specified as Umberto's Gang. Little Haiti still exists in VCS albeit without any Haitians, gang members or otherwise. Maybe they were in hiding for a time. In hindsight, I CAN understand how naming a gang after a nationality could ruffle up some feathers. Do I agree with the censorship? No. But, I can understand the argument. In an M rated game.

Even if as a really shitty -A indie game, you'd think there'd be potential for a smuggling game that makes a big deal out of fake identifications and hiding stuff well.

Man, they're also missing a golden opportunity to have their token "talk show" radio channel basically be an evangelical religious talk show with crazy guests.

Actually, they could have two with the other one basically being True Capitalist Radio, complete with a cans.wav parody.

You know y’all can stop engaging with the people afraid of black pixels right? Y’all are shitting up the thread just as much as them by engaging with them every time.

Anyways, I checked to see if Sweet Baby had any part in this, but I don’t know yet. I’m curious though, because they’re talked about so little, but are increasingly responsible for so much in modern game writing.

Hey there's this epic anti-SJW YouTuber you might like called Sargon of Akkad. Make sure to check out The Quartering as well! #NotYourShield

Holy fuck there are so many fucking niggers in this trailer! They’re not just niggers they’re niggers acting like niggers doing nigger things. Like nigger twerking on their little nigger car. And smiling with their golden little nigger teeth. HOLY FUCK they even put the nigger cellulite on the nigger ass. What is with all these damn niggers in my GTAIV trailer! Grand theft auto? More like grand theft nigger amirite?
> Game about stealing shit.
> Surprised there are niggers in it.

Don't know if it was mentioned, but there's a guy I follow on youtube and on one of his recent streams he mentioned something I didn't knew, about how on earlier versions of gta 5 there were troon hookers and how basically everyone comitted TTD on them and then later, since people started complaining about troonphobia, they took them out of the game. I wonder if they're gonna add like a moral system or something similar to punish players who eventually will commit TND. No way they're gonna let you kill hundreds of niggers and let you get away with it like in previous games. And they wouldn't take the niggers out of this one.
Not sure how that would work. Usually when you go on rampages in GTA you load from an earlier save when you're finished, it would be kinda stupid to waste a bunch of ammunition and money from killing random people and getting wanted levels while still otherwise playing the story as normal.

Just to piggyback off the previous posts about a possible Texas setting, I think it would be great to have a giant map that had Texas along with the Mexican border. R* could make it like RDR and have a river separating the two countries and tweak the wanted system so that you earn a bounty even if you evade the cops. That way you have to cross illegally or risk being apprehended at border crossings, or pay a coyote to smuggle you in. R* could fully embrace a narcos story and have the player take over plazas and fight rival cartels, kinda like the empire building in VCS.

It's too early to tell atm, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are involved in some way. They seem to have their hands in every major story-based AAA game released in the last 5 years in some way.

Realistically the best way of doing Texas would be South Texas + Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon with San Antonio and Monterrey serving as the main axis.

You could use the Guadalupe or Colorado river as the northern boundary then using Hill Country to hem in the North and west boundaries of the map north of the Rio Grande then the Sierra Madre Oriental for the western and southern boundary on the Mexican side, similar to how the Mountains are used to hem in Blaine County

Also to note Tamaulipas outside of the Rio Grande Valley is pretty much empty much like Blaine County is between Route 68 and Los Santos.

Meanwhile It'll even let you have SpaceX and South Padre Island too, and if they want to be a little bit more ambitious with Hill Country they can try to include Austin to connect SpaceX and the Tesla GigaFactory but I'm not sure how relavent Elon Musk will be in 10 years as it seems he's waning.

You could name Texas "Bexar" which due to having the same amount of letters and vowels and X in the middle it is almost perfect so Texan becomes Bexan, Bex-Mex, BxDOT and BxDPS etc

Also it'll piss off everyone that lives in San Antonio since Bexar County is pronouced "Bear" because it's a Spanish name but non-natives pronounce it Beks-sar like Texas which reflects how Texas went from being Teyhas in Spanish to it's current English pronunciation.

Tamaulipas I could see becoming Tamalepaís which is broken Spanish for "Tamale Country", or if they don't want to be that lazy, Nuevo Santander the colonial name for the area

Nuevo Leon would of course become Nueva Castilla

All in All besides the main cities, you'll have Laredo, Victoria, Corpus Christi, South Padre, New Braunfels, Eagle Pass as well as the Rio Grande Valley to play with.

No real satire I've seen in the trailer, just "black people be on da tiktok".

This is like a black nerd's idea of how hood blacks communicate. Like it was written by whoever came up with the fake barber shop full of black guys who were supposedly full on Elizabeth Warren supporters during her campaign.

My fellow persons of color, are you ready to spin da block with GTA6?!?
A screenshot of the trailer that combines TikTok, social media-addicted retards, ebonics, and zoomer speak, with none of it played at all for satire.
It’s like an injection of AIDS directly into my fucking brain.

Over the past five years Rockstar systematically purged the good ol' boy dev culture, a bunch of the old guard resigned, and they shifted hard-left towards diversity hires who are "being cautious not to punch down by making jokes about marginalized groups in contrast to previous games":

This is the same company that recently edited out tranny hookers from the GTA V remasters for no good reason other than muh triggered. This is a preview of what's to come. What we're going to get in 2025 will follow the bog-standard corporate DEI playbook:
  • Girlboss underrepresented minority protagonist who fights capitalism and the evil white villains
  • Cuck male secondary protagonist who defers to her every move with a twist betrayal because all white men are evil amirite
  • White conservatives and rednecks being the punching bags and the brunt of the satire
  • Glorification of nigger culture
Now beyond that I don't know how far they're willing to mess with the core formula. I wouldn't put it past them to limit your ability to "harm underrepresented minorities." They'll keep the cop-killing for sure though lol

GTA San Andreas for PS2 was different because Rockstar wasn't afraid to satirize and villainize niggers. They mocked everyone and everything about American culture with no subject off limits. This was possible 20 years ago, but not in our new age of SJW-driven corporate mandates. I guarantee you that balance will be conspicuously absent from GTA VI.
