Dude, don't give out this (genuinely fascinating) work for free. Get in touch with your nearest university that has some kind of combined law and tech programme, work this up as a Masters by thesis or Ph.D proposal, and get this published. You actually have a bundle of data that verifies some very common assumptions about internet grooming. This is valuable and important.

I would suggest this too. I have done exactly that and I got graded fairly well. Granted, my research paper was a part of a broader topic on how tech jobs affect people socially. I used to be a member of an early Debian maintainer group and I gathered lots of information from there and related communities. I won't go into details since the paper has my dox and all, but provided you go to a good Uni with your paper - you'd be guaranteed some money and certification with this. I've gotten a little bit over 7k in royalties so far, which isn't much.
The research will be extremely useful though, as I'd assume not a lot exists on the topic. Its generally hard in academia to find sources that tackle child predators and sexual degeneracy since its too hot of an issue for most people and they don't want to look at sick shit to do their research and due diligence. Few people have the stomach for that.

It's optimistic in the extreme to think taking this to the media would get the slightest bit of traction. Remember, the press helped Netflix scold everybody who found Cuties disgusting. It's also pretty unlikely any university is going to be open to this kind of research because they've spent decades working to desensitize people to grooming and child abuse; stuff like this could lead to lots of heads slowly turning back towards the universities and mobs forming to collect some faculty scalps.

This is still fantastic shit, but expecting anything mainstream-adjacent to do anything besides try to bury this is folly.

Depends on the University. Mine being an Eastern European one didn't really care to protect the feelings of predators, but from my knowledge - It has been used by staff in several Western Universities as well. I know not all of them are compromised. OP just has to make sure he goes in with the right one. Probably would be good to ask/research locally first.

Some questions:

1. How stringent were you when excluding sex/porn oriented servers? Did you also cut shit like e-thot simping and fan-fiction, for example?

2. Do you have a false positive rate for your program, and if so, what was it? (False negative isn't feasible with this methodology, obviously)

Fun fact about discord:

When you try to report something, anything, they ask you specifically for a direct link to the message or image.
So say for example, you know of a CP server. Or a server you were on took a turn one day and you noticed it but then left the server.

Discord won't accept your report unless you rejoin, search for and then link them what you want to report.
They simply do not care.

This is an incredible post and I’d like to sincerely thank you for making it. This type of information being hosted on the site is exactly the reason so many want us gone. It goes above and beyond from speculation and shitposting to actual graphed data and academic-level research that you can’t get anywhere else.

The excerpts you posted are sickening and the fact that you have more truly saddens and disturbs me. I’m glad, though, that people have become aware of Discord’s massive issue with pedophilia. It’s often memed about that Discord users are irreparable coomers and massive degenerates but it’s incredibly difficult to show the extent as to which full-throttle grooming and sexual exploitation of children occurs on the platform without sounding irrational or fear-mongering. Children are targeted, abused and blackmailed at an unprecedented rate and the administrators seem almost to encourage it with how little they do in an attempt to stop it. My heart breaks for the innocent kids who have been failed by their parents, by the government and by society, and have therefore been sucked into one of the most depraved and abusive communities of people on the Internet. The data shown here is only a small peek at the massive iceberg of filth. Children are being forever damaged by these sick fucking freaks and it should enrage everyone that there is not more being done to stop it.

I will most certainly be using this post and the data contained within from now on when I try to make a case against Discord to the people I know and engage with. I hope you’re able to get this data pushed to a platform more widespread and less maligned than our gossip site while also maintaining your position of relative success. I know that’s an extremely optimistic outcome to wish for but you’ve put so much effort and time into this research that I think you’ll eventually be rewarded for it. I know someone who made a userbot that crawled servers by joining any invite link it got, within 5 minutes it got to servers spreading CSAM. You should be wary about doing any of this. (reporting it did get it taken down)

I've been using it regularly for 8 years, but in those 8 years I've been in precisely one server, which I made so me and my friends could stop using Skype.

As pozzed and rotten as the public servers are allowed to be, these problems aren't inherent to the software, it's just streamlined IRC with VoIP.

I definitely would not support the company in any way, but I'll use their software/service for free.

I see the utility, but all of that existed in some form before. Perhaps separated, but there is nothing wrong with that.
