Haven't posted in here in a while; I'm sort of surprised none of the victims of this lady have tried to uh, "correct" her, to speak in Shining terms. As much as we all hate troons and everything they do, medical malpractice/abuse is still terrible, and when you read about how much awful stuff doctors do get away with even outside of sex change surgery, it's very depressing. Even most malpractice cases that do make it to settlement aren't as much as you'd think they are, when you factor in lawyer fees, etc. Do we know how much the people that did successfully sue Kathy get for settlement money? I read I think four people sued her and won. Did they get another sex change doctor to prepare to testify against her or something?

Does she truly sleep well at night knowing she's known for basically being a real life version of that one boss from the Outlast games that castrates people to make them his wife?

Some certainly still do (although what we today call the "Hippocratic Oath" is different from the ancient version). Some say something else. Some don't swear an oath at all.

Ultimately, it does not really matter. The Oath isn't something that is in any way binding, and hasn't been for all of modern history. It isn't like being under oath in a court of law, where lying "under oath" is a violation unto itself. It's just a tradition, a way of affirming a code of morals, ethics, and values within a group, so that if someone acts crazy it's easy to take notice and call it out.

Like all non-legally-binding tradition and custom, it only matters insofar as the members of the group and the society around it is willing to recognize it when it's there and object when it isn't. I hear you- any restriction would be better than what we have now. But lbr, "safe, legal, and rare" went out the window decades ago, and deemed to be shaming. Now it's "shout your abortion" and wearing "I've had 21 abortions" t-shirts. Same with "why do you care what grown adults do in the privacy of their homes??" turning into "bake the cake, bigot, or I'll destroy your life." I have absolutely no love for the health insurance industry, but it annoys me that they're not the ones setting a limit (on trans treatment in the US, paid for by insurance).

These bastards (insurance) have the time, analysts and software to make chronically-ill people jump through hoops, demand periodic proof from the doctor that your leg didn't grow back, your islet cells are still gone, you tried all the less-expensive invasive treatments and documented them and so now please can you have a new knee, automatic rejection of the first claim in order to capture the funds from the percentage of patients who give up and don't contest it after that.

And they're rubber-stamping SRS, with its endless dissatisfaction and revisions, creating a chronic patient. The surgeon and anesthesiologist and the hospital get paid, the estrogen manufacturer gets paid, but the insurance company? How do they profit if they have to pay out for this? So many of these troons aren't even on a group health insurance from a job; they're on their parents' insurance.
