Just a reminder that Tesla started getting fucked with until Elon backtracked much of what he promised to roll out for free speech protection on Twitter, which resulted in investigations getting dropped. I suspect he does care about free speech but not at the expense of his other businesses. He'd rather be worth $200-300 billion than for us to call someone a nigger on Twitter. It's strongly parallels to China and the Soviet Union where they used their universities to push propaganda and that led to an absolutely useless generation of students that rebelled and caused so much problems. I believe both those countries now focus more on education in their universities now and prohibit politics.

Inversely the threat of having their patents and ip stolen would discourage companies from jacking up their prices so high, and the government will contract out the license to multiple companies that specialize in generics.

Not likely, they will agree on the entire thing behind closed doors. It's a cartel, plain and simple. No one is gonna ever be allowed to lower prices at all because doing so breaks the cartel and you can't have that as the FDA will revoke your license.

Seizing patents seems like a very Putin thing to do. I'm less concerned about the reasons why and more concerned about opening the door for the government seize patents. Didn't they already break their own rules to appease Disney by keeping Mickey Mouse from entering the public domain?

They are gonna seize patents based on the whims and justifications of a corrupt administrative organ whose leaders are all tight with the pharma companies. The people seizing the patents won't even be the government exactly, it will be the big Pharma companies killing competition who refuses to join their cartel.

Its an attempt to get more money. Hence its proximity to the WEF. A lot of Western powers have grown leery of Ukraine when it leaked that Zelensky is a frothing at the mouth lunatic who insists that not only can they beat Russia in Ukraine but that he also has delusions of grandeur about marching on Moscow.

It's going to cause a huge cooling effect. If any federal dollars into a product means the government de-facto owns the patent and they WILL give it to their competitors to under-cut them, they will stop taking federal dollars. Might even stop development or release of new drugs in the U.S. entirely. Depends on how petty fedgov and big pharma are, and believe me they are both run by some pretty petty motherfuckers, they could get into a retaliation war that could see prescription drugs dry up in the U.S.

To be fair big Pharma hasn't done any decent medication that doesn't have a litany of side effects since the 90s . With very few niche diseases that are mostly genetic everything else like heart issues, autoimmune etc hasn't improved not just that but the public health has worsened we went from mild asthma, pollen allergy and skin hives in 5-10% of the kids to two thirds having autoimmune diseases ranging from pollen to life-threatening peanut allergies to autoimmune where they need endless medication to function anf some of them causing rise of some horrific infections that i wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy since they need to supress the immunity. I think big pharma should be nuked from orbit and then figure out what sort of medicine we want to use and practice. If COVID has shown me one thing both the pharma and the medicals boards need to face the wall with few exceptions .
