I'm surprised they don't know about Rhonda. When Rhonda finally lost, there were plenty of women on socmed mourning her defeat and that they still like her for advancing the cause or some shit like that. After that, nothing. Not a single one of them were commenting on whatever was happening on the UFC after that.
Ehhh, the lady I was talking to was not the type to know a single thing about sports beyond it being a feminist talking point, let’s put it that way…

Rhonda was a mascot for marketing. She had a loud mouth, and everyone without blinders on could see she was being fed fighters well below her capabilities. When she met someone who wouldn't rush head first into her fists, she crumbled. Maybe she bought her own hype.
I had a fair amount of certainty going into that fight that Holly Holm was going to kick Rousey's ass. Rousey was more of an exhibition fighter, whereas anyone that was aware of Holly Holm's boxing history knew that she was the real thing.

Shit, *I'D* be afraid to fight Holly Holm, and I outweigh her by a good 60#. She's a fucking beast.

Dude, women's combat sports are home to some absolute monsters. And, in my view, it’s disgraceful to the art of fighting how many people see these women as glorified ring girls.

Wasn't Ronda (didn't know she didn't have an H lol) a big talking point for them? Guess she's outlived her usefulness to them.

One thing about Ronda was that she not only crumbled in that fight, but crumbled as a fighter after that. Even the best of the men occasionally have moments where they get completely hard countered but bounce back after the loss to win more fights.

Or who knows, maybe VinnyMac writes MUCH bigger checks than Uncle Dana.

She was young, she never watches sports, we were drinking a little wine, and she remembers Rhonda after I explained who she was a little bit.
It wasn’t like a debate, it was a conversation where she asked my opinion on women’s sports given that athletics is my field.

Women like attention too much for that.

No powerlifting legends like Stefie Cohen or Tamara Walcott
Both of those women command respect in powerlifting for a good reason, but Stefi is on another level. Athletes that can squat and deadlift over 4X BW are damn rare.

I think you're right about Ronda being more of a publicity draw than Holly, but she can definitely fight. She's unquestionably a skilled judoka and has enough training and experience in striking and jiu jitsu to be a formidable MMA opponent. Holly is not only simply better at combat sports than Ronda, she exceeds her capabilities by an enormous margin.

I think Ronda was fed too many easy fights and it made her complacent or something along the lines of that. She was 28 when she got KO'ed, not exactly a spring chicken by athlete standards, but there's still room for improvement. Hell, fighters can stay in the game for a long time as long as they don't incur too much damage.

No joke, I have been in conversations with rabid feminists about this. For basic context, I’m very involved in sports, training, etc etc.
They were complaining about how no one cares, and I being an actual follower of some women’s sports asked if they knew any notable women athletes. Not a single name except that Black chick who got held in Russia for a bit until I brought some up. No powerlifting legends like Stefie Cohen or Tamara Walcott, no fighters like even Rhonda Rousey or Cris Cyborg, no bodybuilders like Rachel McLish, not a single name of a woman who is a respected athlete in her sport.
The point of this is that it’s not an issue of people hating women, all those names above and many more are highly lauded by people like me who love the game, but an issue of people actually caring to watch. People don’t ignore women’s sports because sports are for men only, they don’t watch because one, the women themselves choose different people to look up to and respect, and two, yes by nature of biology the most impressive thing to an average viewer is what the men can do. For example, women’s grappling has magnificent specimens like Yvonne Duarte, but compare her to the freaks of nature in mens heavyweight divisions. She’s a fucking amazing player, but you have to know more about the sport than the average person to understand what makes women like her so outstanding. Compared to giants like Mijaín López in Greco, who do you think the public is going to gravitate towards?

Sports are for women the same way they're for children. There are 9-year-old boys who are really good at baseball for their age. The kid across the street from me is apparently one of the best 10-year-old 2nd basemen in the state. Nobody cares except the parents. "Really good for a _____" is an athlete only friends and parents care about.

And like you pointed out, women don't care about female athletes, either, because women don't admire speed and strength.

Let's go back to arranged marriages. Seriously. Then we can drop all this eye rape stuff, shut down all the clubs and dating apps, etc. We can ensure girls aren't given an excuse to be gold diggers and men no longer have to worry about being regarded as creeps just for asking a woman out or looking at her the wrong way.

I unironically believe that arranged marriage works out better than the system of dating and courtship in the west, for both men and women, as well as society at large.
To start, it's not like we imagine in the west, it's not a shotgun up to a woman's head to marry a guy. Usually, both the man and the woman can say "no" to an arranged marriage if they simply aren't attracted to someone, or don't agree that they'd be compatible. Marriage is an act which joins two families together, the husband becomes a part of the wife's family, and vice versa, arranged marriage ensures that the families get along well. The marriages aren't so much planned based on emotion; the usual process of dating and courtship does little to ensure compatibility long-term. Birth rates typically increase when people find themselves in long-term, committed relationships.
I'm not saying it works out all the time, obviously, there are situations where it goes very wrong, but the same can be said for dating.

I've had this conversation with my best friend IRL years ago. It's a sensible system. Modern culture sells a Disneyfied vision of Twoo Wuv that romanticizes shallow crushes. Those can work out, but the foundation is shaky. An arranged marriage has its priorities straight. You're matched up by someone in a similar social class, with someone who likely shares many features of your upbringing and values. Love is something you can create later.

Love is something you can create later.
Yes, though, I'd say there should be a baseline level of attraction before entering a marriage with someone. Basically, "could I kiss this person without throwing up?" If the answer is yes, that's enough so long as the person also shares your long-term priorities/goals and comes from a family that would get along with you and your family.

There have been articles written about how environmentally damaging fast fashion* is but getting caught wearing the same thing more than a couple times a month means we need Bengal child slave labor and dumping toxic chemicals into the river. Women are never going to feel responsible for anything so getting them to feel anything for something that would otherwise inconvenience them ain’t gonna happen.

* - For moids who don’t know, fast fashion is cheap, poorly made clothing at places like Forever 21 that start falling apart after a couple wash cycles. These clothes are often made in SE Asia with child labor and synthetic chemicals that wreak havoc on the environment. This is shit girls will often glom onto because they’re only intended to be worn a couple of times. It’s disposable consoomerism that women like, therefore there’s nothing wrong with it and no attention will be brought to it because thots don’t care yet will upvote every environmental social media post because climate change is something they feel passionate about but will never make any lifestyle changes. Thats for someone else to care about.

RIP Edmond. He's not dead but one day he will be.
He ruined Ronda and hilariously wrecked her boyfriend as well. He wanted to create strikers.
