"Anyone old enough to remember the first polio vaccine knows how this holocough vax saga ends."

Polio was an actual deadly virus though, Covid has been shown to have been overblown bullshit. The biggest difference is that with Polio we almost eradicated if it weren't for anti vaccine people being retarded. You can't get rid of something that's no different than the common cold and the vaccines for Covid have been shown to cause medical issues and death. Still waiting on the polio vaccine to cause that.

Yup. On the other hand, Im not sure I'd trust Chinese merchant seamen to maintain/operate a nuclear reactor.

Expand that to commercial entities running plants will ignore things/fail to comply in the interest of profits. Now I could not find the incident which had pictures of the (wiring closet? data center?) where the unsecured side was cross connected to the secure side with the excuse was 'there was an open port so we plugged into it' but there is the following I did find. A security officer notices an unmarked and believed to be an unauthorized cable run around a cabinet door

Things done in the interest of profit maximization isn't where trust should be placed.

That's a reasonable concern, although I very much doubt the OP was thinking of it that way.
Other people have pointed out nuclear commercial vessels have a whole string of issues, but I think that's a different subject, since the commenter seemed apprehensive about a sea-going nuclear reactor.

Polio probably cannot be eradicated because there humans are the reservoir. Most people infected with polio have no symptoms and live quite comfortably.
The polio vaccine did kill a number of people; Dr. Offit wrote a book about what was probably the biggest issue:

The thing is that it was a common thing for children to be crippled by polio; so much so I've seen old comics where the kids are encouraged to visit their afflicted peers, because they were pretty damn confident everyone reading the book knew one or two. The polio vaccine was effective enough that despite the real issues with it, you're much safer taking it than not. This can't be said for the Covid shots, and worse, the CDC has so badly beclowned itself they've lost credibility.

EDIT: My apologies for the double post.

Let us all contemplate the fact there are at least 15 people unaware the US Navy alone operates close to 100 nuclear powered warships.
Merry Christmas.
11 of them are 100,000 ton carriers, like the Gerald R Ford here. Not a single supercarrier in history has blown up. Nuclear is pretty safe in modern day.

I couldn't believe my eyes, how can someone be this insanely inept at his job?
To be fair at this point I don't even consider being a sci fi writer Pat's job. Its more of a hobby he's bad at despite what he says. His real job is/was the insurance sales. I won't even say his xeets are his job because he's not being paid by the DNC despite his various attempts to get on their radar.

lol why is he even talking about ozempic? The e-norm-ity of it all just hits you sometimes. People are at work or school or caring for their children, but pat wakes up hungover, farts, and fires off a retarded post comparing chips to a weight loss drug and gets ready to argue with people with MD in their Twitter titles. Why? Why is he malding about weight loss drugs this morning?

They didn't work well enough for him?

There have only been three major nuclear accidents in history: Chernobyl and Three Mile Island (both of which are attributable to human error), and Fukushima (don't build your nuclear plants on a fault line, children!)

No one would pay him to xeet. He does it so often you might as well be burning money.

It's not even don't build on a fault line since the rest of Japan's plants that got hit shut down safely. The real lesson is fucking do maintenance. Despite the earthquake and tsunami, Fukushima was basically also human error by letting the rats eat the wires. Every single nuclear incident can be attributed to either stupidity, laziness, penny pinching like a jew, or all of the above.

What would happen if one did?

As a kid I always thought that a nuclear reactor exploding would basically be the same as a nuclear bomb.
But as an adult and learning more what actually happened at Chernobyl, it isn’t the same thing really. Obviously it was a massive disaster, but it didn’t vaporize the immediate area.

Would a nuclear carrier exploding be more like a Chernobyl at sea?

I'd look at Operation Crossroad nuke testing for that. Basically the local area would get dunked in radiation until the currents carried away the fallout until its so dispersed its not a issue
