In the thirty years since 1991 the Ukraine built nothing except in parts of Kiev. All of its industry is still from the Soviet era despite all the "investment" from the US. Also its the most corrupt nation in Europe so any investments go directly into an oligarch's pocket. Diplomatically its military is full of neo-Nazis from all over Yurop. Nice try tho.

Fuck knows, I have no idea why Ukraine would have been worthwhile but Russia has chewed its way through pretty much every weapon on the entire continent. Ukraine isn't the only one which is exhausted from war.

I just want to make it clear to any Russian intelligence agencies reading this thread, that if you need any collaborators to help patrol the streets, make lists of local russophobes and serve as a guide for your troops, I will be more than happy to comply as long as there is some kind of financial compensation.

That’s basically what the EU has relied on for decades. Our troops have been hollowed out, and whatever actual weapon depots there were, have been sent to Ukraine a long time ago.

Europe of course also depend on American and British/French nukes for deterrence.

I’m not exactly sure what the odds are, that an American president will risk total nuclear holocaust of the U.S. to save Berlin and Paris from a Russian advancing army, but I’m pretty sure they’re similar to guessing the right number on a roulette wheel.

As for the UK and France, you can be sure that whomever has the launch codes, are on their way to a cozy exile long before Ivan arrives, so that’s also kinda beside the point.

Europe hasn’t exactly produced leaders of any caliber since well… What… The early 20th century?

I'd like better confirmation than pro-Russian social media. I don't expect Kiev to announce it but if this is true it's big enough to warrant some official non-denial denials, etc... That would represent like 2% of the value of all US AID delivered to date? And it was blown up before even being unpacked with weapons that no defense exists against? And we're arguing about sending more billions to these clowns?

Russia and India have been big on Hypersonic missiles for a long time and they are well ahead of anyone else.
I love to see more data on their effectiveness in a hot-war theatre.
I do imagine and agree that currently there exists no defense against these weapons.

Unless it is coming straight at you I don't see any way you can even target it, especially if it like Brahmos performs violent manouvers up until its final approach.
And if does come straight at you and you manage to get a shot in you are probably gone anyway since you are still in the path of a thousand pounds of metal scraps coming at you at mach 10.

I totally believe it happened but the news will gain zero traction as long as only pro-Russia Telegram is reporting it. A loss of this magnitude should be huge news. It'll be undeniable if air defenses are degraded enough that Russia starts sending masses of the cheap suicide drones that get through.

Because if you hit it in a particular spot, you can pry it apart and see the bomblets inside.

It’ll gain zero traction like numerous news out of Ukraine, regardless.

I’ve long given up on Western news reports out of Ukraine.

The media is in the pockets of the elite massively invested in the war, and the journalists, who all need their Ukrainian visa, for the most part don’t speak a word of Russian, but have to rely on local stringers vetted by the SBU.

Go there yourself and try to see how little of the news in Western media comports to reality.

“Interestingly, the author claims the group is part of [the] 5th Tank Brigade,” Militaryland noted.
Officially, the 5th Tank Brigade has been in garrison in Kryvyi Rih in southern Ukraine. In reality, the brigade barely existed until a few months ago, when it finally began training new recruits.

Ukrainians might be planning to do the whole 42nd thing again, but this time with Leopard 1s.

Leopard 1?! That thinly armored 1960’ies tank, that got some upgrades in the 80ies, including in some cases armor that doesn’t break when you speak to it harshly?

Well, I suppose they’re better suited than Abrams tanks, lol.

They’re armed with a 105mm gun though, so it’s outgunned by basically any tank fielded by Russia.

I suspect drones will also give them a really bad time, considering the weak top armor.
