They didn't even discover what caused TB until 1882 and it wasn't until literally the '40s that there was any effective treatment for it, no matter how rich you were. You just got to die in more luxurious surroundings. Even if you had remission, you still had severe damage to your lungs and since there was nothing to use to kill the bacillus, you would inevitably relapse over and over until you died.

Good point; "treating" TB in 1843 was less "curing" and more "prolonging life." I'd guess Tiny Tim's treatment successfully prolonged his life to the point where he survived childhood.

Part of the problem is its incredibly slow metabolism, which has the side effect of making it nearly immune to many antibiotics, and is why courses of treatment are still incredibly lengthy. It just doesn't uptake very quickly.

TB can and does go from active infection to latent. Most people with it, if I'm not mistaken, have latent infections and may not even know they have it. Doctors probably wouldn't even know if was actually consumption until the infection lasted for a lengthy period without getting better and might just assume it was another disease.

I tried to find out who that dancing guy was for you so I took a look at Dan's video (I'm glad someone else knew who the man was, because I didn't).

Anyways, I know a lot of people hate Dan both at Ona (for promising and then not delivering, making everything about himself, posting his DMs with other users) and here (pozloading my neghole, being a teaser etc). I can't deny he has done a lot of stupid shit.

However, while checking out the intro, I noticed he put many of his fuckups in it. For all his faults, the man can show self-awareness and laugh at himself. I think a lot of the time people are not fair to the guy.

Does he eventually act like an asshole, does a metric ton of booze and cocaine and streams himself paying cheap drunken whores in Vegas while wearing a Hitler mustache and looking like a shaved egg with googly eyes? Sure. But who hasn't done that amirite?


His behaviour and obstinate fanning of Pat's own flames of self-destruction are one of the most entertaining things I have ever witnessed, and the amount of space he occupies in Pat's head is bigger than the entire Aria!
