Roblox Community General Thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'm rather surprised these creeps aren't just using Second Life for this? What's the Roblox use case for ERP when SL lets them have a 8foot long rainbow dragon dick?
Simplest answer is probably half that it's generational (kids, especially the kind that get exposed early and are primed to grow up into creeps, don't fuck with SL unless they're nostalgiafags trying to live out an era they were too young to be a part of in its "prime") and half the much greater ease-of-access (SL to this day runs about as well as a terminal AIDS patient lives, and even to adults at this point Roblox is just the aesthetically-nicer option; "adult accounts" are a whole culture of Roblox players that could warrant their own post). In a way, Roblox has taken SL's place—SL is unstylish, inaccessible, a dinosaur in comparison.

convulsion swell is also likely right that there's just not much of a place on SL for kids, anymore at least, and SL has been around long enough that its reputation for being an unoptimized shithole where you can have your very own giant dragon dick precedes it enough that it grosses kids out.

It’s fascinating to me how much they really corrupted these games. I remember around 2009 is when the “get eaten by (blank)” trend started, and it was much more innocent, stuff like a giant zombie that eats you or cart rides through a jokey rendition of someone’s body like that magic school bus episode. I’m guessing that they’ve been co-opted by these fetish people fairly recently, although I do wonder how much of the early more “innocent” games led into what it has become now.

I'm finding my self more disgusted by the fact that Roblox is reassuring parents that their moderation team ensures the safety of this platform than the actual degenerate accounts.
These 10 profiles were identified by my team as being obvious ERP accounts. They were all reported 10 times each. After a week, only two were taken down. This gives Roblox reports a failure rate of 80%. This is unacceptable, and if I were in charge there'd be disciplinary action towards every moderator who mishandled these reports.
I'd like to see more experiments like this and metrics for how long on average it takes for these types of accounts/groups to get banned. Those kinds of numbers would really highlight the problem more than seeing the density of these accounts.

MFD still works. We have a fully staffed Discord server with a ticket system linked on my latest video. If you find something inappropriate on Roblox, create a ticket and an associate will add it to the next audit.
Is there a way to provide information without discord?

Also going to be interesting when the groups involved start coming here to chimp out.

Tech illiteracy is so deep-rooted in Roblox's userbase and culture that I'd be impressed if they made it past verification, let alone figured out that this thread exists because of Ruben directly mentioning the Farms (or, far less likely, through someone trying to fearmonger about the site).

Even if they did, something tells me there'd be an uptick in underage bans.

There are likely no children on Second Life.
I "play" SL, more in the sense that I use it as a playground to fuck with people instead of the "sex dungeon simulator for 40 year olds with unironically no life socially or otherwise" that it's known for.

You will find furries, trailer meth whores, 40 year old fat gay bikers on a power trip, coom weebs, niggers (mostly women and effeminate men) and even open pedophiles, but the only actual children you will encounter are the ones you hear in the background of some lifeless fucker screaming at you for playing in their virtual sandbox, instead of being parents. The youngest people you would find on there are definitely the furries, but as far as I've encountered, they're at least adults just in their early 20's more often than not.

I used to play Roblox a long time ago, and I miss the serene places with jetpacks, magic carpets, flying machines, and calm skies, the big maps we all had wars with little tokens over, the obbys (I was never good at them), the setpieces, the primitive shooters, the autistic group forts (greetz to frost clan) and the sense of freedom. It was childish like the fort in the woods was, with fake ranks and pompous proclamations, but it was pure and innocent. None of it mattered, and nobody was getting hurt (except maybe for some feelings, but those heal quickly enough.) Seeing now what's happened with Roblox makes me very sad.

What is perceived as degeneracy on Roblox has changed for the worse. Back in my day, we had crap such as 'Boy and Girls Hangout' and 'Adopt and Raise a Cute Baby/Kid/Whatever', these games were magnets for online daters + dumb kids doing virtual family roleplays. And the community made fun of the weird things that happened in said games. Now there are blatant furry fetish games shitting up the front page and nobody bats an eye.

Not really related to the gross fetishes, but something made me curious if there are secret Nazi/terrorist RP circles in the game and whether they can be detected with these modtools. I only know that online sandbox roleplays can get pretty crazy and wonder if it's the same in Roblox.

The Buy Robux Page was given a Christmas theme while the rest of the site is left with no theming.

While the theme does look nice, why didn't Roblox do it for the entire site like they did in the past?

Simple, sheer laziness & good ol' corporatism.
I've noticed a lot of games this year have been dialing back on the christmas seasonal update UI stuff compared to prior years. Fortnite, the other game being used by these kind of guys, usually has a little comfy looking cabin cutscene area as a menu with a little yule log you can zoom in on in their menu during christmas. This year though? It's not there, replaced by a fucking blank screen with a cooldown timer for a button yo push to get the free items daily with stock art of a skin next to it. it's weird because other stuff seems high-ish effort and the fact they were able to pump out christmassy shit even during lockdown world but now that it's lifted they just pump out the most soulless UI makes absolutely no sense.

I think that it won't work in Roblox, first of the majority of "Nazi" roleplaying will equate to putting a Hitler skin in Minecraft, it'll be just for the laughs. Secondly emulating terrorists would be like playing for T in a Counter Strike clone or similars ingame, you'd do it for the sake of action rather than sadism. Thirdly, most of that kind of RP (or to an extent IRL) is done in other places like an specialized Discord server or any other chat application, not that I've done it but I know a pair of cases. And lastly, Roblox is utter shit if you want to do something like that, you'd be better off playing some War Thunder, Hearts of Iron or hanging out in an alt-tech space.

I'd say capitalism, corporatism is flour from another sack.

There are times where the platform doesn't feel real because of something other than its conscious refusal to address the child abuse that occurs directly under their noses.
This is one of those times.

USD value is calculated by $99.99=$R10,000, which as I'm aware has been the only consistent buying rate for their paid virtual currency in the site's history.
The currency exchange program on-platform game developers use does not have nearly as equal of a payout rate. I don't want to know who willingly bought this, no matter how they got the currency for it.
