Cox always seemed like the guy who didn't wear the weak soft soyboy skin as a disguise to abuse people - he really is just an alpha of the soyboys, and is genuinely just a harmless consoomer. The exceptions define the rule, and Cox really is just the exception to the abuse creep standard.

No surprise his channel faded into irrelevance though, he was on the ball for the advent of youtuber gaming news but never really excelled or stood out in it, and just sorta faded in relevance.

I was thinking the same thing, but looking at his website, he's actually reviewed a ton of games this year. Most of his reviews only get a handful of comments (Starfield seems to be a notable exception, but it's mainly bots, and fanboys on both sides arguing) so I have absolutely no idea why Jim's pursuing this over making videos, but he's certainly been pumping them out.

I guess it's much easier to write a review, and he doesn't have to deal with YouTube's bullshit, but still...$10k a month for 4 videos and 3 or 4 written reviews.

That is considerably more than I was expecting. I read the Rogue City review because I loved the game and to be honest, it was pretty good, with the exception of some brief hand-wringing about the ethics of competitively shooting baddies as a police officer. But damn, reading this reminded me of Old Jim and it honestly made me a little sad because it's solid content. If he focused on this for his videos instead of the bullshit he is pumping out he might actually be enjoyable again. I don't think Old Jim is *completely* dead yet... he's just being suffocated by a fat man in a wig and bad makeup

Jim IS a fat man in a wig and bad makeup because he's surrounded himself with troons and ergo must become a troon to gain access to their circles and their fun character traits and benefits such as "being annoying" and "being gross" and "not having accountability".

He's an "internet celebrity" brand troon. He's found his circle of friends he'll use to keep the patreon and podcast money coming. He'll keep it going until irrelevancy then use the fact he still uses the Jim Sterling brand and still has the Jim Sterling name to silently return to a normal outside of life. Jim is still in there. "Stephanie" is the equivalent of a wrestling persona he's using to advance his career and he's not breaking kayfabe a lot. But sometimes? Jim's still there.

Clash Artifacts of Chaos. This game looks like shit, he claims it looks beautiful, says it has "solid combat" game looks stiff as hell and the framerate keeps dropping in his footage with next to nothing happening on screen.

Boneraiser Minions. Brags about being a writer for Vampire Survivors. Game has dick jokes so he likes it. Makes some gay jokes, hardly talks about the game. Keeps talking about heterosexual men getting pegged which presumably has nothing to do with the game. I can't tell wtf is happening in the game footage, it's a visual bukkake of 8-bit looking art.

Next week is apparently the top 10 shittiest games of the year. And I doubt he's going to really have a 'serious' list of bad games. There's obvious candidates like Gollum and Kong, controversial candidates like Starfield (IE yes its shit but is it top ten of the year of shit when compared to Kong) and then Jims bitching' list with good games that he personally hates because ego. They don't want a TTRPG experience, they want 5e because that's the branded version. Also, those games didn't come out in 2023 so they'd be off the table for discussion as best games of the year or whatever anyway. Besides, Jim gave more of a shit about being able to play the game as a chick with a dick, than the actual game itself.

Jim seems like the kind of person who'd quit a campaign when the DM doesn't let him derail the entire thing into an 18+ experience because he wants to larp seducing the entire bar during downtime between quests. I'd bet he's also the kind to get pissed at the DM not telling him that he can use X skill or Y check at any given time, because he expects it to all be preplanned and properly notified rather than something your expected to roleplay.

Really he just strikes me as the kind of person who wouldn't do well in a tabletop session where your expected to be self directed and collaborative with everyone else.
