Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

but a very small twitter account has tried to "expose" Alex Hirsch for going after 18 year olds as a 28 year old man
Has he ever stated he's in an open relationship or something? Thought he had a girlfriend? Ten year difference between adults isn't really something to get suspicious about unless he's an adulterer.

Probably never. Most big booms come from new companies entering the field. The 90s had Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network along with a host of other networks. The 2000s had Pixar, DreamWorks, Blue Sky, and a few others. New companies that are either unowned or given a ton of freedom as they are not as integrated is what the industry needs. It is either that or an industry turnover with a complete overhaul to management like late 80s-90s Disney underwent
I'm not really a fan of their shows nor have I watched any of them outside of TADC, but Glitch Productions have proved to be a very versatile company featuring a lot of creative works under their belt. They very well could be the Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon of the 2020s if they keep up with greenlighting more creative and interesting works for YouTube. If that's how it goes in the future, then it'll be interesting to see how the "fall" will happen; either becoming more corporate and more "suits filled", a grooming allegation that involves one or more of the leading heads of the company, or both.

Wish concept art I found on a tumblr blog. Tumblr_l_4015558142615.jpgTumblr_l_4019316996261.jpgTumblr_l_4023308049906.jpgTumblr_l_4027673718655.jpg
We could have a cute prince charming instead of this annoying critter meant to sell toys. They're apparently trying to appeal to girls. Don't they know that girls love romance? They don't want a proud independent woman who don't need no man, that's for millennial feminists. If you want wish fulfillment for girls, give them a pretty princess with a cute magical love interest. There's a reason why tangled worked so well and why girls were obsessed with jack frost.
On the subject of magnifico, I think he could've worked as a tragic antagonist. A king who's so paranoid about losing his people that he turn his kingdom into a near dictatorship. Asha could be his daughter, helping her overprotective dad to trust her and her people while at the same time learning to understand him. But nah, we can't have a morally gray antagonist and the heroine need to be obnoxiously right all the time even if it doesn't make sense.

So idk if this is old news or what, but a very small twitter account has tried to "expose" Alex Hirsch for going after 18 year olds as a 28 year old man and racism, but most importantly is that this person has leaked some personal info in regards to his emails and the accounts he owns, namely adult sites and whatever else.

I'm not sure what could be ascertained by this, but the only reason I know about this is because soyteens made a thread on /raid/ talking about it.
You'd better pick up that phone.....
OMFG, imagine if, after all of this SJW kvetching, Hirsch turned out to be a Chris Savino or John K.-esque pervert. The lulz that'd ensue....
CUZ I FUCKING CALLED IT

Don't forget that the animation industry during the entirety of both 90s and 2000s saw adult animation in a whole new level. Once the Simpsons became a huge hit, other animated sitcoms like Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill, South Park, Family Guy, Futurama, Aqua Teen, American Dad, Robot Chicken, etc. became huge hits, and the action genre also had various different art styles. Nowadays, artstyles for both sitcoms and action are generic shit

I know that's a typo but Lauren should have stayed at hone actually making brownies that day and not working on g4 mlp. I would sell my soul to see that timeline.
My dude, Hasbro nearly hired a person who drew BDSM domme pony when requested something darkly stylised. They just ARE like this in hiring decisions.

Also, I was trying to find The Stork Caliph with english subs, but did not. Instead, someone effort shitposted latin ones, like, church latin.

they'd be thirsting over the Galaxy Girl of their choice.

So was it chocolate or space themed? Because the latter is kind of a Sailor Moon concept but the former is the Gummi Bears. Either could work.
I believe it was more cape-shit like. Tried to gain info from @Vyse Inglebard archive, but the about was pretty generic, just saying girls like art, music, sports and other activities.

Either way, both MLP and later DC Comics Super Hero Girls (2019) would be based on this concept, with the latter having way more involvement from Faust. Seeing as MLP was ripping from super hero plots, and Faust stayed on DC the whole way through, I am assuming the Galaxy girls were a superhero group.

It was basically a Westernized Sailor Moon. And she transplanted their personalities into ponies instead.

You can see how basing a pony show on a near harem anime ended up.

Once again, companies will not take risks on original IPs. And this was before 2010 started.
According to the Wiki, it being for girls was the reason it was not picked up. Companies told Lauren that animation was not profitable with a female audience, which was proven by MLP being a success with majority male viewers.

This fact gives me whiplash compared to where we are now only a little over 10 years later and numerous companies willing to lose money for women viewers.

Once again, companies will not take risks on original IPs.
But yet they'll piss away enormous amounts of money utterly destroying existing franchises, even when the "reboot" is so colossally retarded it can't possibly succeed. They're morons.

Which would have happened with Galaxy Girls but wouldn't have involved autists jerking it to horses.

Two more Total Drama episodes leaked, both of which are on YouTube as of now. As usual, I'm going to autism-post about them.

Episode 7 is a cooking challenge where the contestants must make a cake that tastes good and also resembles Chris. Owen makes a return as a special guest, his design hasn't changed at all and it's not clear how old he's meant to be. It's also outright stated he was the winner of Island, too. I actually like this cameo, it was done better than most of the ones from Revenge of the Island in that he got plenty of spotlight to himself. Julia and the hockey duo are on one team. Caleb, Priya, Damien, and Zee. Then the last team is MK, Ripper, and Axel. They have to go to a raft to get the ingredients, fighting for the best ones. Had some surprisingly brutal smackdowns, and Damien wielding a trident in an odd Anchorman reference, and there was even a bit where Axel literally did a "This is Sparta!" scene with Zee. I know a lot of challenges are based off of Squid Games, but it seems today's two episodes were oddly heavy with references. And weirdly, they're references that the target audience of grade schoolers wouldn't even get, like The Shining and Ghost of all things. Just struck me as odd. Anyway, with the ingredients mostly gathered, the teams return. Not much of interest happens aside from comedy shenanigans. Of note, Axel and Ripper are too busy flirting and sucking face to even help, and Priya has nothing to make the dough rise so she uses Ripper's armpit fungus(?) to help it out. The results are MK's cake looks melted and tastes like shit. Julia's is great and looked just like Chris, because she conveniently grew up working at a bakery. Priya's team had their cake be a more muscular version of Chris to appease his ego, and it tasted even better than Julia's, but it was ruined because Priya, for some reason, mentioned the use of Ripper's armpit stank as an ingredient, so Julia's team wins immunity. For some reason, despite Priya ruining her team's victory and being a major threat, it's Axel that gets voted off for being a threat. Very blatant plot armor indeed. When Axel leaves, Ripper starts to cry and clings onto her as she is sent away on the drone and they crash into the lake. For some reason, Chris decides this counts as a double elimination. I'm glad Ripper is leaving, he was the worst character of the reboot by far, but it doesn't even make sense. They crash like, ten feet from the dock. If they flew off into the distance and Ripper's retrieval being too much of a hassle, I could understand, but the way it actually happened seemed rush and forced. And while I hated Ripper, it was almost as annoying that since he and Axel got together, they basically became Geoff and Bridgette from the first part of Action where their entire personalities devolved into making out and being lovey-dovey with each other.

Also, Damien finds the immunity statue, but no one else knows.

Episode 8 starts with Damien having gotten an anonymous note saying the writer knows he has the statue. It turns out Julia sent this note to everyone, and while Damien freaks out and checks where he hid the statue, it's not clear if Julia even noticed this. Meanwhile, Zee sees Caleb and Priya flirting, not realizing Caleb is getting sincere feelings for Julia, and he starts to freak out and keeps putting objects in his mouth. Julia and MK realize he's holding a secret, but for the moment he's not blabbing. The challenge is basically a giant pinball course, where getting bounced around and hurt awards points. After a trek on a mountain to the course, Priya and Caleb try to kiss, but falling boulders ruin the moment while Julia tries to get Zee to share his secret. The pinball portion of the episode is pretty fun, lots of well-done slapstick here. I swear, the slapstick this season just feels different, in a good way, to others. Maybe it's the way the animation has improved, but it's not like the animation is that drastically different or better, but the slapstick parts just stand out so much to me. Probably just autism. Anyway, amusingly Izzy, Duncan, Courtney, and Scary Girl have obstacles modeled after them. Naturally, Damien is launched into Scary Girl's portion and he gets absolutely decimated. Slapstick shenanigans happen, and Priya wins through a sort of combo situation and she gets more points than the scoreboard can show and gets immunity. She and Caleb finally get a kiss, and for some reason the other contestants just stare at them as it happens and treat it like a big moment they're waiting for. This sends Zee over the edge, and he confesses that Caleb told him that Priya was just a means to an end and Caleb doesn't like her. Of course this ruins the mood and Caleb doesn't even try very hard to explain himself. Zee also spouts out a bunch of other secrets about the other contestants (that he just knows for some reason) to just let it all out, which pisses everyone off. This leads to his elimination, and I find it pretty unusual how being ticked off at Zee's stupidity got him booted over Caleb playing with Priya's heart. Just smells of plot armor to keep the Priya/Caleb arc going. I'm baffled that Priya was the absolute, canonical winner of the first season and has made it a whopping eight episodes into the second season. I highly doubt she'll be going next either, so she could easily make it to the final five, maybe, twice in a row. That's some Owen/Duncan/Zoey levels of Creator's Pet right there.

I'm curious if anyone else is even watching these, and if so, how do others find the Reboot so far? I think it's decent. For me, it's a step up from All-Stars and Pahkitew, but that's hardly a high bar to pass.

I really hope those rumours about Disney getting back into 2D animation are true, because this art is amazing. I'd love to see something like this on the big screen.

At least it's an original idea from a creator fresh off the hit fosters home at the time. But yeah the whiplash of companies not wanting to market to girls to suddenly pandering to them to the point of being irritating only proves the old saying right...hindsight is 2020.

It was also absolute bullshit. Prior to MLP G4, MLP had been incredibly financially successful marketing to girls. So had franchises like Strawberry Shortcake. Hello Kitty and other Sanrio franchises were some of the most valuable IP in the world, again, marketing to girls.

It's absolutely, utterly retarded to claim marketing to girls isn't a thing.

Also they're not even marketing to girls in a way girls want. They're pulling the bullshit STRONK WHAMMEN WHO DON'T NEED NO MAN shit to girls at an age where they want a Prince Charming and even though every super popular Disney-tier movie that has actually succeeded in the last 20 years has in fact been classic Disney Princess shit.

Absolute morons.
