Cow crossover with spudmom Sarah St. Onge. Reminder that this woman's baby had limb body wall complex, which means it's guts were on the outside of its body.

The whole idea of a non-sentient blob of cells somehow being equivalent to an actual human strikes me as so insane I can barely even believe anyone actually sincerely believes it. They have to be retarded or psychos. This is not a sane belief.
My only conclusion is just either the total lack of understanding of how a babby is formed, or the twisted belief of "every sperm is sacred" but blaming women.
Even if there was, more than likely they'd go onto have serious lifelong health problems since as discussed ITT, most micropremies have serious issue for the rest of their lives (especially since there's usually some underlying disorder that caused them to be born so prematurely).
My "favorite" cow, Cyraxx, was born prematurely (don't quote me for the timeframe), and was conceived as soon as possible after his mother previously gave birth. It was long believed that he had fetal alcohol syndrome, until his stepdad confirmed his birth mother was sober.

Just because it can live outside of a womb doesn't mean it should.

About that doctor who says he treats children with Trisomy 18: If they even survived to birth, they probably have mosaic T-18, meaning that it's not in all of their cells. The one person I remember whose treatment I was involved with who had T-18 only had it in 12.5% of their cells, and this baby lived less than a month. I don't think the parents knew about this in advance; it was in the 00s.

I haven't read the "article", but I assume once again LifeNews is just making shit up. They have a long record of that.

Looks like it's mostly just whining about how the only reason kids don't survive t18 is because those evil bigot doctors don't try hard enough to save them

If that were the case, there would be at least one doctor who somehow had huge successes treating these potatoes.
It sounds like that doctor gave jaw surgery to one spud and LifeNews decided it meant all doctors can save t18 spuds, they just don't want to for some reason.

If someone really had a way to save most t18 patients, it would be huge news and there would be tons of medical papers about it.

t18s are potatoes who all die. Where are the t18 potato success stories? Oh, they don't exist? That's because t18 is incompatible with life.

There are isolated cases of t18 kids living to adulthood, but most of them are mosaic. I'd imagine ultrasounds in utero can tell just how fucked up various organs/etc are and if there's any chance the kid might make it.

Trisomy is some serious shit.

I’m at the gym right now and there’s a guy with Down syndrome who is yoked. He was doing weighted chin ups and keeps running through sets. I think he did 8x5 with a 25lb weight on his belt. When he did his last set, he picked up a handful of chalk and tossed it in the air.

Absolute GigaChad.

I noticed numerous women mentioned having c-sections to birth their doomed spuds. If that's what they wanted to do it's fine, but sure as fuck isn't something any woman should be forced to do.

"The potential of suffering is never grounds for murder".

OK, I'm MATI.
That is all.
People don't understand how to differentiation between killing and murdering. You are killing a person when you perform an abortion. I think the bigger question is why you're killing a person.

If someone is going to be born to suffer terribly and die terribly in 99% of circumstances vs a 1% chance of a very uncomfortable life with elements that can't be controlled (like breathing and brain function), I think we have to discuss the value of termination and what the ethical implications are. I don't think the culture of either saying termination is a black and white issue is healthy on either end.

You're absolutely right, there should not be black and white thinking but when such issues are politicised rather than considered medically, this is where we end up.

My vexation came from the use of "murder" as a way to emotionally manipulate readers, in conjunction with the refusal to consider the potential suffering that the baby would endure in its short time on Earth.

Once parents are given the diagnosis that their fetus is incompatible with life I find it easy to believe that some mothers are so traumatised that they can't consider carrying a baby to term that is doomed to die. If they choose to terminate that is their choice, one they should never be shamed or judged for. The mother's psychological state is also a factor that has to be considered.
