I'm sure this will result in tons of content and won't be horribly hamfisted like every other thing they try.

Earlier today Cole let slip they were told not to talk about S1 or MDE stuff. This was in an overall reply where TTS made fun of them for being MDE fans and believing everything on the show, Cole was saying "Maybe we don't believe it but we go along with it.." or something like that.

Either way, the fish are being less genuine in their reactions which ruins a large part of the appeal for me.

This is going to sound stupid, but does anyone else feel like the vibes for this season are off? S1 felt fun because it was something completely different, and seemed like it was a bunch of people who had no idea what they were in for getting messed with for over a month. Now that we know it's all MDE fans who presumably want to play along and make "content", anything I see on the show has to go through a filter of "yeah but are they actually retarded, or are they just playing along?" and I have a much harder time suspending my disbelief. I was glued to the livestream for S1, but now I've only cared to watch a few clips.

I watched the first two days religiously like I did for season 1 but have dropped off. For me personally, the magic isn't there. I plan to keep up still but a lot more casually. I don't even enjoy this bunch sitting around and hanging out like I did with season 1, it's not the same.

Even being fans of the show, people aren't mindless robots, they can't play a character or wear a mask forever, and their true selves will come out. Especially after being trapped in the same place with the same people for weeks.

I thought it was going well and I liked seeing the fish bond and let their true selves show. That Body Body game was wholesome. Unfortunately, Summer being a headcase and needing to vacate sort of ruined that vibe, and JC leaving right on top of it didn't help. So now it feels like we're in S1 post Simmons and Mouro leaving, all the fish are still trying to process their friend being forced to leave (All of them said last night that they had never dealt with someone legit crazy like Summer before and felt bad, Brian felt bad for yelling, etc) and also people are sad about not being with family on Christmas (Brian said he misses his dad, Meg said she is home sick, etc).

It was kind of dead and depressing in S1 right after the first 2 fish left too but it later picked up. I have hope it will get better, especially once some actual challenges happen.

You know, I'm not sure how this is going to be received, but I think the idea of regular eliminations is an inheritance from this kind of TV show that they should dump.

This is the second time they've really had the winds drained out of the sails early by people leaving. Probably wouldn't of saved Summer, but I bet JC would still be there.

I think they should have a nominal consolation prize if they make it to the end, and some sort of definite standing system so that people can know if they're too far behind to win. Get them to leave on their own accord, not have the fake drama they keep having to back out of with eliminations. Don't have the standings be 'most points wins the $50k', more final three qualify on points.

I think it'd give us more of the kino first week.
you can also just add a freeloader each time someone gets kicked. it's more interesting that way

I don't even think it would be that bad if either JC or Summer stayed. JC was nice because she was "real" and Summer's psychotic mindset was also "real". It's clear the crew didn't expect them both to leave and the show is suffering because of it.

Both of them leaving also resulted in major plot lines that could be conceived as genuine being destroyed. Summer vs the house is dead. JC vs the house is dead. JC x Cole in the house is dead. Summer x Shinji schizo bpd arc is dead. Even if one of them left and the other stayed it would've resulted in SOME content remaining. For example, if JC left but Summer stayed Cole probably would've tried his hand at the BPD chick due to him being set on a Fishtank love quest. If Summer left and JC stayed we would've gotten some underdog plot with JC being against the house and being the youngest.

The show right now is fine, but what hurts the most is just the missed potential from them leaving. They didn't even really try to keep JC on.

Detective Cole lit a cigarette and stared at broken bedframe in his shabby 1970s appartment. The neon sign of the Reef Bar flickered in the dark den below. He could hear the laughter and talking from the fish below, but he felt no urge to join them. He had a case to solve, and a broken heart to mend.
He was a private detective, one of the best in the city. He had a knack for finding clues, cracking codes, and exposing secrets. He had a reputation for being tough, smart, and honest. But he also had a weakness: a beautiful oriental woman named JC.
He met her at the bar one night, when he was looking for a lead on a missing code. She was beautiful, a vision in red silk and pearls. Her voice was like honey, sweet and smooth. He was captivated by her, and she seemed to feel the same. He thought he had found the love of his life.
But he was wrong. She was playing him, using him for her own agenda. She was the mistress of the crime kingpin, Jet Neptroon, who ruled the fishtank with an iron fist. Jet was calling the shots, ordering JC to use him, and many other crimes. He was also the one who hired him to solve the case of the fish tank, knowing he would never succeed.
He found out the truth when he followed a clue to Jets Basement. He saw JC there, in Jet's arms, laughing at him. He felt a surge of anger and betrayal, and confronted them. Jet mocked him, calling him a fool and a pawn. He said he had used JC to distract him, and to get information from him. He said he had no chance against him, and that he should give up.
He refused to give up. He fought his way out of the fishtank, dodging bullets and thugs. He swore to himself that he would bring Jet down, and make him pay for what he did. He also swore to forget JC, and never see her again.
But he couldn't forget her. He still loved her, despite everything. He still hoped that she would come back to him, and tell him that she loved him too. He still waited for her, every night, in his room, alone.
He knew it was hopeless. He knew she was gone. He knew he was alone.
He took a drag of his cigarette, and sighed. He looked at the file on his desk, the file that contained all the evidence he had gathered against Jet. He knew he had to finish the case, and expose Jet to the world. He knew he had to do his job, and his duty.
But he also knew he had to do something else. He had to find a way to heal his heart, and move on with his life.
He had to find a way to forget her. But he couldn't. He couldn't forget her, no matter how hard he tried. He couldn't forget her face, her voice, her touch. He couldn't forget her love, her betrayal, her pain. He couldn't forget her, because she was a part of him.
He knew he was doomed, to live in misery, to die in loneliness. He knew he was cursed, to love her, to hate her, to miss her. He knew he was lost, to himself, to her, to the world.
He knew he was alone.

if you actually watched season 1, you would know that
most of the s1 fish were fans too.

vance, sylvia, letty - admitted to being MDE fans during and after s1
josie - was a fan of jets music
damiel - a straight up plant
jon - googled who sam hyde was at the airport
simmons - pedo
mauro - didn't know

Being familiar with Sam Hyde, Jet or MDE is different than being familiar with Season 1 of Fishtank and everyone involved.

Same. can't be arsed with it.

There's only been four pages for me to catch up on in this thread since early this morning, compared to season 1 where there would be at least 20 pages in the same amount of time. People were speculating viewership might be up for this season because people are home for Christmas break/off work, couple that with familiarity with the 'show' from season one you would think it would be doing a lot better than it appears to be. Definitely seems like the hype just isn't there for this season. Imagine being one of the marks that invested money in this, grim.

JC was told about Jet's plan to make fake screenshots of her saying she wants to date Cole, so she made an account on X to respond. https://twitter.com/jc_foxi
Interestingly, she seems to dox her last name, Chiang.

She posted on her IG about the account, so it seems legit.

A few more things I found on JC.

She apparently also does a bunch of shitty kpop dance videos when she's in Taiwan. It's as awful as it sounds, and none of the videos have many views.

at this point in season 1 the site had been down for over a day, they had blown the budget for the server , and were receiving no money for tts, fishtoys and sfx. that state of affairs would continue for close to a week if I remember correctly.

there was constant jokerposting about jet, and complaining about scam hyde and how watered down the "hell house" turned out to be.

I think its a bit overblown to pronounce s2 DOA

doomposters remember s1's highlights via clip channels and forget how much of a clusterfuck S1 was

I don't know. When they all found out they were MDE fans, they were so giddy with themselves. They were spouting memes and laughing and cheering when the sharks came and threw trash and food around the house. Then less than 24 hours later several of them were sobbing wrecks, breaking into hysterics or needing to be consoled by staff or squirreled away to their lonesome. They might know about the premise of the show, but knowing about it and being able to actively take it in stride are different things. The only takeaway I got from the "reveal" was that Sam and Jet want to torture superfans, who are more than likely to take it as opposed to people like JC. I think even if they reach their breaking point, they'll be inclined to stay because they don't want to be seen as quitters in the eyes of the fans or their "idol".

I wouldn't say it's DOA exactly, people are still watching. Just noting that the hype surrounding this season seems like it's greatly diminished from season one
