They've been making fun of the fact that the DCEU is going to get retconned... and now they're upset that no one is talking about Aquaman 2 flopping because everyone knows it's part of a retcon. As always, rules for thee but not for me.

So far, people I've seen in the Drinker's circle have been talking about the fact that Amber Heard has a big part in it, that the movie is otherwise a fairly harmless but not particularly good superhero movies and that it is a massive flop. It's not as big as the news of the Marvels flopping because:

1. The Marvels is a political movie. An attempt to show that a diverse cast of unappealing women could carry a Marvel superhero movie to box office success. Since it didn't manage to do that, it's failure probably shows the limits of DEI propaganda.

2. The DCEU has been a running disaster for years, while Marvel was once a successful brand.

3. Disney has (or had?) a lot more power in the entertainment market than Warner has had in recent history.

I was gonna make a Pontypool joke about Infinity Pool but after actually watching the trailer I'm just to depressed now.

1. As far as weird, artsy, horror I suspect Pontypool is better.
2. I haven't seen Infinity Pool but the trailer makes it look like Hostel (Another movie I haven't seen) with extra steps.

I watched Infinity Pool back when it came out because I was bored that night and there was a theater showing it nearby. Didn't know anything about it going in other than Cronenberg's son being the director because I often like to go into movies knowing as little as possible about them beforehand. It had its moments but mostly felt like junior trying way too hard to be like daddy and missing the mark. Not surprised our dear Superior Futurist loved it because it involves a scifi plot that has le evil old rich white tourists hedonistically exploiting a fictional race of darkies in exchange for cash and the protagonist being a massive cuck with no real agency. The most memorable thing about it was how comically pathetic the main guy was. By the end it seemed like some sort of masochistic femdom fantasy for the rich and mediocre.

I haven't watched wing yet, sadly. That said there are a lot of old guard that don't like the WfM fanbase.
