The biggest problem was the church deciding to overly focus on humanizing a non human entity. Idk if I believe in any god, but if one exists, think of it this way. It's an eldrich being that can be either benevolent or malevolent at any time, something to be feared and respected in understanding the power disparity. What did children with cancer do to deserve that?
So... God only managed to create a mediocre world, but we should still believe that he is omnipotent and omnibenevolent, because according to him, he is?
you're a muslim? lolDid it not occur to you God is an asshole?
i love your inferenceThe biggest problem was the church deciding to overly focus on humanizing a non human entity. Idk if I believe in any god, but if one exists, think of it this way. It was so detached and unable to understand humans it had to literally create an avatar for itself to understand our simplicity, as well as what drives us.
In the bible, God literally has a character arc where he becomes less destructive and evil over time, but it's still something we cannot comprehend.
The simplist answer is this- humanity was a clock he created, there was a lot of interference while he tried to perfect and manipulate it. To fully understand how it worked, he took it apart over and over until he had it memorized, then finished it. Now, the clock is done. There's no need to mess with it. Anything that occurs naturally like cancers, human will like rapists or murderers, wars, etc. He has no part in it because he's no interacting with the clock anymore. When the clock needs to be rewound, have a piece replaced or fixed, we might see signs. But it could be a very long time before we see it happen, if ever.
He wouldn't since he is benevolent and capable of eliminating all suffering. If an omniscient omnipotent benevolent God exists, why does he allow suffering?
That'd be a good argument if I was talking about evil, but I'm talking about suffering in general, including things beyond human control(disease, natural catastrophes, etc.)Free will duh. We are created in God's image and God has free will so humans do too
I have no doubt that an omniscient omnipotent God would be able to create a world without suffering where people wouldn't die of boredom.
1: I think I already asked someone why couldn't an all-loving God create a way of testing our faith without subjecting us to suffering.1: hes testing you and your faith
2: the flaws of humanity are due to our free will he gave us
3: satan runs earth and therefore allows suffering here
Good point. But then from there's no reason to call him all-loving, cause the human definition of this word doesn't apply to him. It's an interesting notion which does bring up a foundational assumption which is often ignored in this question: what is good and evil? The question assumes that pain, disease, death and suffering is evil, but if we assume that God wants you to suffer and God is the ultimate authority of good and evil then that's how it is. Your suffering is good because God decreed it so, your personal opinions on the matter don't matter.
I'm not saying God is bad, I'm saying heIf God is bad then why is there good in the world?
Are you implying that we don't have to suffer cause we can just kill ourselves? But doesn't God condemn suicide? The reason for everyone's suffering is that they love God's this creation too much and are afraid to leave this world.
If you're philosophy minded, read Schopenhaur; if you're science minded, read The Comfort Crisis. I'm not going to recite them for you, they're out there if you actually want to think seriously about this.I have no doubt that an omniscient omnipotent God would be able to create a world without suffering where people wouldn't die of boredom.
