God damn. I can't help but wonder if Kat knows about his spending habits. She's got to, right?
Dood… 1400$ is like a months worth of sushi for Khat.

Seperate lives and all. As long as Khat gets her doordash-hay, I don’t think she cares.

Like Phil she focuses only on her immediate pleasure. If she has her trough full and her Skyrim, she’s happy.

Well she is clearly well-fed...
Phil and Khat are both addicts.

Their perspective never goes further than the next fix.

Just like a heroin addict doesn’t think further than having enough to get well today and maybe tomorrow, neither of them would ever go: “Gee, wonder what my life would look like if I didn’t spend all this money on frivolous nonsense.”

It's hard to say. Khet seems pretty oblivious/uninterested in everything Phil related. I'm sure she largely goes off of what Phil says, and given that Phil himself seems pretty deep in denial, it's possible she thinks it's more of a "dollar here and there" situation. I'd wager we have a much better idea of Phil's financial situation overall. Phil and Khet don't seem like the type of couple that discusses their expenses or plans ahead or anything else. I don't think she looks at the bills. At most, she might have a vague idea of how much they spend on food if she's the one putting in the Doordash orders because Phil is too lazy for it. But I'm not sure if she even knows how much Phil brings in each month. I think she knows her very minimal needs are being taken care of in the present, and that's ultimately all that matters.

Despite what Phil spends on WWEC every month, there is still enough left over for Phil and Khet to live comfortably. I think as long as Phil maintains their lifestyle, she could care less if he blows money on mobile games. Now if his spending got to the point where he has to ask her for money or they can't door dash on the regular, then it might rise problems in the household. WWEC spending is a fraction of his monthly income. I don't think Phil has spent more than $2000 on any events by TJ's estimates. Still that is a lot of money to not even rank top 20.

So, when the bank leaks happened, that was Phil's personal bank account. They do not have a joint bank account, they both maintain personal bank accounts.

So Katherine doesn't know how much money Phil makes, but Phil knows exactly how much money she makes because she gives him her tax documents every year for Phil to have his "Tax Guy" prepare her returns.

Katherine only knows what Phil tells her, and Phil is a gambling addict who also happens to be a compulsive liar whose lies are rooted in delusional narcissism.

Just think about all the things Phil says he can't afford that he could literally afford with what he spends on WWEC every month. New PC, fix the shower, get central air + AC installed, etc.

I think Phil has said their arrangement is that she gives him monthly an amount that the utilities have increased from her being there, however they figured that out but I can't imagine it's more that $100, and she splits groceries with him.
I think if she knew he was spending $2K+ every month on WWEC she would never give him a single cent for the rest of the time she's there.

Very weird if there is literally no joint account in existence. I only know of two ways to do things that work at all in a genuine union:
  • Have a joint account that everything goes into initially and things pay out of, then have individual personal accounts that feed out of the joint account (personal/selfish purchases, gifts, 'escape fund' that's mostly just for psychological comfort)
  • Have personal accounts where pay lands and then pay into a joint account where some expenses go (more prone to complications, but workable)
Not having any form of joint account seems a very weird way to live if you're an actual couple. How can you be running the mental game of being together if you can't even bring the financial side of it into a unified space where it makes sense?

Fucking how indeed? They do such a good job of seeming like such a healthy relationship otherwise too.

@boooof straight up posted Phil's credit reports and shit during the bank leaks. As of Sept. 2021 there was no joint bank account associated with Phil's social security number, and Phil and Katherine had been married 2 1/2 years at that point.
I believe at that point there was just Phil's personal bank account and two PayPal accounts.
Also Phil has no retirement accounts or savings of any kind. Literally nothing lmao
He dumps $20K+ a year into this game.
He was dumping that much money into the game in 2019 instead of paying his taxes and lied to his parents about it so that they covered $4K of his taxes. . .which were really gatcha gambling debts.
He continued spending that much on WWEC during his bankruptcy proceedings, and he filed his WWEC spending under Ordinary & Necessary Expenses related to running his business as "microtransactions".

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't bat an eye at lying to his mo-wife, whatever the person who cooks food for him. He doesn't even have to lie to her. He set up a system where he's lying to her by omission by keeping her out of his finances and if he gets found out he can pull the classic SemanticSydePhil and say 'Actually I did tell you about this. I told you I play mobile games and spend a money on them,' and then turn it right around on her and say she spends money on mobile games to so blah blah blah

Compared to everything else in Philworld, it doesn’t seem that weird to me.

Phil basically pays for everything, and they split the groceries. Plus whatever 100$ she may give him every month for extra power usage etc.

The rest of her money is hers to spend on extra doordash orders, and Phil likewise get to spend his dentmoney on his pulls without hearing her nag about it.

It’s the perfect solution for Phil and his horse. She gets her stable and hay… Phil gets to brag about “Muh family”. And gets the tax write off.

Kat was a part of the bankruptcy providing her income and signing stuff for it. At the least, she knows how much he makes and that he foolishly blows all of it. I assume, a significant amount of that on her.

I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't even know about the bankruptcy.

Kat did not sign the filing, only Phil and Rochelle did. Her income information was on there but considering Phil had a PDF labeled something like "Kat paystub" when he accidentally showed his desktop one time I imagine he used that to fill out the filing without having her review or sign it.

At the least, she knows how much he makes and that he foolishly blows all of it. I assume, a significant amount of that on her.
See above and even if she did, she spent her whole life pre-DSP squatting or couch surfing. She really might have no idea what his spending is like or how unreasonable it is. Equally importantly cyber bowling is right, so long as her needs are being met she doesn't care.

I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't even know about the bankruptcy.
Knows probably (Rochelle visited them at the Snort Fort and Kat let her in) but she's too dumb and incurious to understand or care about it beyond freeing up more money for Doordash. Again, we're talking about a woman who has probably been living paycheck to paycheck, mooching, or both her whole adult life so her idea of 'normal' is going to be horrifically skewed.

Edit to Add: Attachments of the begruptcy filing + income statement. Kat isn't even mentioned by name on there so far as I can tell and Phil was such a tard he somehow put different amounts for her income on the filing ($1,349.92/month) and statement of income ($1,742.32/month).
