He keeps talking about American Beauty but, and I hate to say it as the bootleg pushers use it to destroy the Jewish community, maybe he should actually be watching “It’s a Wonderful Life.” He quite perfectly matches the protagonist, George Bailey, who after a life of compromises and setting aside his desires for his family, work, and the community goes of the rails on a bender, crashing his car and dreaming about what life would be like if he never existed. He eventually realizes all the things he loves would be far worse without him and accepts all the good things in his life. It feels like a Twilight Zone episode with an hour of setup but it gets the point across and even a booze addled mush brain could understand the plot that got beat over their head.
Instead he wants to act like Tony Soprano or something. Boozing it up with a different woman each week while his wife falls apart due to neglect. The only thing missing is his children telling her to shut the fuck up and calling her a bitch.
Who knows. Maybe they are.
