I kinda wish the Stalker thread wasn't dead so it would be full of stalker fans foaming at the mouth in anger
Even /sg/ is too preoccupied with True Stalker to be annoyed for too long. shitter_bvsed_questionmark_.png

Lol what were they expecting when the director's the same guy who made a bunch of tacticool scp / COD videos.

Anyway, it's not like there aren't any big shootouts in the games. Practically each and every one of them ends in massive battles between stalkers, the military, the monolith, and whatever else. Plus all other gunfights you get into throughout the game, and those that are implied. They are, after all, first person shooters that just so happen to adapt the general setting, premise, and part of the atmosphere of the film and book. It's not fair to compare it to either of those two, because they've entirely different meanings and purposes behind them, completely separate from the games.

If anything, what'll probably do this movie in will not be a failure to capture the "essence" of stalker -- whatever the hell that would be in this day and age -- a lack of storytelling, nuance, and focus that keeps the film in check. From the teaser and of what little I know about Evan Royalty's works, this movie will probably just end up being a kind of highlight reel of the big, epic, climactic moments from the games poorly connected by some highly simplistic plot that fails to capture the rest of the games -- the parts in between the cool stuff, and that slowly build up to it. Just like this other movie some gook made. It's easy to forget, for instance, that we only enter the Zone twice in Roadside Picnic, and only ever get mentions and vague explanations of most of the shit that happens in there. The rest of the book is spent on Red, Noonan, the Vulture, their families and colleagues, and the terrible lives they live as a result of the Zone's existence

Didn't Wendigoon admit he hadn't even been a Stalker fan before getting roped into this?
Did he? Makes sense. He always seemed more like a Tarkov fan to me.

I'm not positive, I just kind of remember hearing that. I could just have assumed it months and months ago or something but I still liked him then so I don't know why I would have.

But those are the worst parts of every game in the series! :(

Hey remember when he said he would dedicate the month of December to the cryptid iceberg whatever happened to that.
Hopefully he understood how stupid it is to speedrun a big project for no real reason. The alternative he rage quit after the bad reception. And the worse alternative is that he just decided that being in a billion podcasts is easier.

It was already posted how butthurt he was and adding to the Linkara meme.
Let me say this once again, since apparently it was not made clear when this video series began. cryptid iceberg has no set schedule. Videos are done when they’re done and will be released when they’re done. In case you haven’t noticed I’ve been more than a little busy the last few months. If you haven’t noticed, wake up already!

I searched the thread and didn't see anything about this but Wendi has made three episodes of CreepCast with Meat Canyon/Papa Meat, the latest being on the Russian Sleep Experiment:

Never heard of this Meat guy but planning to listen to one of these episodes later while cooking, see what it's all about. Forgive me if already discussed.

eta: I hate that style of thumbnail

It'll be out when it's out. And we like that, it'll be out when it's out. But great work ethic. It was so good Meat Canyon was there, the great Meat Canyon! It's okay

Don't give him his hawaiian shirt!
"The Feds are going to take me down"

WHO SAID THAT? WHO SAID THAT? Take him out of here. Take him out here. And don't give him his shirt.

A group of unassuming men in hawaiian shirts proceeds to beat the shit out of him and throw him in a van. And then Charlie goes: THEY GLOW IN THE DARK. THOSE NI-

I've been really enjoying this podcast so far as a former casual consumer of creepypasta who doesn't really have time to consume it anymore.

Meat Canyon is an animator/voice actor so he adds a lot to the dialog heavy segments.

Just for a quick review of each episode so far:

Stairs in the Woods: Sounds like a very interesting series but I wasn't familiar with it going in. They didn't do the best job of explaining it for those unfamiliar but there is enough context for you to kind of get a grasp of what it is, at the very least. Feels like talking with your friends outside of the movie theater after watching something where it's assumed that everyone is mostly familiar with what they're talking about. Enjoyable without doing so, but maybe read the original story before watching just so that you have full context if you have the time. Given that, probably not the best episode to start with while you're working on something else unless you've already read it. It certainly made me interested in reading it, though apparently there was a novelization in the works at some point which was delayed due to a tv show acquiring the rights to the story so I may wait and pick that up if it sounds like that's coming any time soon

Jeff the Killer: They heeded the criticism of not providing the full context of a story from the first episode and, given the story's short length, pretty much just read the whole thing. Meat's voice acting is put to good use. I'd seen the picture but never read this one, I'm honestly not even sure if I knew there was a story. I had a blast listening to it and was laughing pretty much the whole time. Definitely a great first episode to listen to if you want something more lighthearted

Russian Sleep Experiments: This one I had read before. Again they read pretty much, if not the entirety of, the whole story. Maybe the weakest episode so far in my opinion but still very enjoyable if you just want to listen to people discussing/critiquing creepypasta. A much better story than Jeff the Killer and mostly they're just offering up interpretations or small things they would have liked it to have done to improve it

There's also a proto-episode from Halloween of this year on Meat Canyon's second channel, Papa Meat. The name of the video is "A Claustrophobic Nightmare w/@Wendigoon" and it's about Ted the Caver which is another classic. Again they went through pretty much the whole story. They both seem to be having a great time and I really enjoyed it. Apparently this one was a combination creepypasta/horrific practical joke on the writer's family. It was a series of blogs from a guy who enjoyed caving and documenting everything on Angelfire who decided to turn his adventures in one particular cave into a spoopy story. Probably the best written story of the bunch aside from maybe Stairs in the Woods but they just focused on the content of Stairs in the Woods vs specifically its writing so once I have a chance to read Stairs my opinion may change

There's also one other podcast that he's a part of, Red Thread, that I'm not really enjoying as much overall but the first episode was good. The other two members of it are Charlie/MoistCritical/Penguin0 and some guy who I've never heard of. The first episode is about the Goatman which is more proper folklore than creepypasta but it was fun as long as you're alright with Charlie, and the other guy isn't a problem. The other guy is a writer and he writes a nice little blurb to start each episode. I'm not a big fan of Charlie but aside from getting sick of his voice pretty quickly he didn't really detract from the episode.

Listened to the Red Thread episode on Heaven's Gate, and I liked that one. So think it does depend on how interested in the subject everyone on the podcast is.

Creep Cast I think is alright, nice to listen to in the shower or driving home to. Hunter and Isaiah are quite the unlikely duo who tested the waters a couple times for Halloween before deciding "Hey, we actually like each other, let's do something together on the regular", and they definitely hit it off. In terms of Internet friendships/colleagues, those two I think will make it through thick and thin.

Anyhoo, where's the next Weird Bible Podcast, Isaiah, Aiden?

Weird Bible was quite enjoyable as well as a pretty firm atheist. I enjoy listening to people talk about things they're enthusiastic about even if I'm not particularly enthused myself and he and Aidan have that for the bible.

Allegedly they're going to record some episodes in January with the intent of posting them come February. If I'm not mistaken all of the previous episodes were livestreams so hopefully there will be a bump in the quality since they were hard to listen to with uneven audio levels and various other technical issues. I don't feel like the chats ever really added anything to the episodes so I don't think I'll miss those

Oh yeah, Isaiah having constant technical issues during livestreaming really slowed down Weird Bible. Doing pre-recordings is probably for the best.
