I told her I would not undo the change, explained what Roblox is and that if she wanted it changed, she or one of the other tech managers could figure it out.

Sick of this bullshit.

I'd ban Discord, too, but it gets a lot of use by employees and customers. Probably can't get away with that one.

When a white character is turned into a jogger then suddenly cultural appropritation doesn't exist & mythology belongs to "all humans". These fucking ugly woke hypocritical subhumans should be gassed in Roblox.

What's really funny is a lot of people, myself included, don't actually give a fuck in the grand scope of things if someones's played or voiced by a black person as long as they do a good job. Sure, everyone's gonna point it out as mildly odd if it's a raceswap thing, but that doesn't fucking translate to "BLACK PEOPLE BAD!!!" People that scream"cultural appropriation" unless it's white people end up projecting their own weird double standards onto the people criticizing them. Even if you point that out though there's a high chance they'll just fucking ignoring it and continuing the struggle session attempt.

In Clown World, one is an authoritarian "fascist" like a Nazi if one supports freedom and opposes collectivist authoritarianism.

Also heard anti-Japanese sentiment is increasing among SJWs. Guess if Japan became like California, that would suddenly go away.

I read that Japanese companies may be resorting to AI translations in response to that.

1990s: bad translations to make stuff "family friendly"
2000s: OK translations
2010s: bad translations to make stuff "woke"

Nazi really means “enemy” or “someone who I hate” at this point, rather than national socialist.

I hate a lot of localizers because I like to learn and see other cultures as they are, rather than through the lens of upper middle class Anglo American neo-puritans.

My guess is that they are going after what they see as the real threat, piracy. AI-assisted simulpubs are a strategy to undercut one of the motivations for piracy, that you have to wait months or years in some cases to get officially translated content.

If they get some phrases or names wrong, someone will complain and they will correct it months before it would ever be found in print.

If they can cut out the woke middlemen at the same time, and keep everything based in Japan, even better. I don't think that's happening in the short term as long as print sales are high overseas, and their online distribution is too fragmented and clunky to take on piracy.

Love monkey Island to death. Hate that the guys in charge of it are old men that would rather cling to their childhood instead of make something great for the next generation. No kid is interested in the joys of fatherhood, sorry. And it's so annoying how they are so CLEARLY absorbed with PC politics in the way that 50 year old nerds so often are. The "new generation" of pirate masters taking out the old "guys like me", the "zombie racism", how "super duper fun" it is to talk about marginalized people... its so tiring having good games filtered through this lens of self hatred.

I'm seeing claims on the Steam forums that the Tomb Raider Remaster is censored, despite dev claims that it's not. First there's a naked pinup on a jacket that now has a bikini.
I've seen claims that one of Lara's outfits was altered as well, but I've not seen picture evidence of that, if someone has that.
