General Wrestling Discussion

What AEW needs to do is stop trying to be competition to the Fed.
It'll never beat the Fed, it'll never outspotlight the fed. Stop trying.
Focus everything on becoming what you said you'd be; the alternative.

Alternatives aren't looking to be the new top act, they're there as the name describes, to be the other choice.
Take alternative music for example. It was at it's best when it was about being a rejection of corporate tunes and true-to-it's-soul as it could be. Only when the suits decided to turn Alternative into "Top 40 but edgier" did it all go to shit.
Same thing here, stop trying to compete with the Fed by being the Fed but indy-er.
Just focus on being the best product you can. Forget the Fed exists, stop buying up all their has-beens. The one lesson you should take from Vince is you need to create your own talent and turn them into your star attractions.
If Tony Khan stopped tweeting and AEW stopped pretending they're in the 21st Century Monday Night Wars they could have a shot at redemption and ultimately becoming a beloved product again.

This is exactly what Lucha Underground was all about in the early seasons and it was magical. It had such a unique and fresh production style that no other company was doing. Some of the most fun I had watching wrestling in a long time.

Thanks for including me in the sceencap anon, it means a lot to me.

Anyways that was a really solid Raw and a great way to start the yeah. I aint going to lie and say I am happy about Seth retaining, but it is what it is. This was the first raw in a very long time where the three hours didn't feel like six. Very well paced. The Rock segment exposed that any Roman/Rock mania match just aint gonna happen. He was out of breath singing his little song, and the 30 seconds of wrestling he did left him out of breath for the five more minutes of exposition he tried to shit out on the mic afterwards. Maybe you get a match at a lesser event, but it really needs to be Roman squashing the shit out of Rock and letting him count the lights. The dude has zero cardio and looked like he heart was going to explode. The Ghost of Sheik bit was pretty funny, and Rock got a San Diego crowd unironically chanting USA. On the other side it also tickles that paranoid part of my brain that mistrusts every aspect of entertainment and makes me think that the USA really is going to go into war soon and the Endeavor jews know they need to stop alienating White people if they are going to have meat for the grinder that is coming.

Anyways Raw finished and I immediately switched over to AJPW for their live show which was halfway done and tuned in during the middle of the tag match featuring Triple Crown Nakajima and AJPW's young hope Yuma Anzai facing NXT's Dempsey and Hideki Suzuki (NXT's Hachiman). The match was a solid build up match for the Jan 3rd title match between Nakajima and Dempsey. Dempsey got a flash pin with a quick count and Nakajima immediately popped up and tried to start a fight. There isn't a lot of build you can do with one match, but it gives Nakajima a reason to go all out from the start of the title match instead of playing his usual cocky character.

I don't think there is going to be any real partnership between the two promotions where they send their champs to a rival promotion to defend the title, but this program seems like a good faith showing between NXT and AJPW to work with each other in a sort of excursion system where they can send their trainees over to be seasoned before they get sent up to the main roster in WWE or officially become rookie wrestlers in AJPW. The lack of excursions for NXT wrestlers is one of the things I have seen consistently complained about and it is a justifiable thing to be concerned over. No amount of heavily practiced routines in NXT is going to prepare a young wrestler for going up into the main roster and having to work with people from a variety of backgrounds, and without a week to practice each match before actually performing it. You need something like an excursion so your young wrestler can get enough experience in a real wrestling environment to learn how to improvise and adapt to the myriad of things that can and will go wrong in a main roster match. It is best to get that sloppy period of adjustment done in a different promotion where the majority of your audience won't see so that those young wrestlers don't get a stink of incompetency around them before they are really ready. AJPW has been training their wrestlers in ring and live fire for a while without the best success.

After the AJPW show ended I switched to the Noah show. Noah post Muta is not good. They still have the big match production values that Muta convinced CF to give them while he was there, but the booking is still really bad since he left.

So I ended up switching back to AJPW to watch the parts of the show I missed while Raw was on. Actwres girl'Z is not over. AJPW has a small but dedicated audience that is extremely involved in each match. Lots of cheering, lots of screaming, lots of crying, the fans love to engage. When AWG came out and started doing their dance there was some polite clapping, but once the match actually started it was dead quiet. You could hear a pin drop in the moments between spots when no one was moving in the ring. The audience immediately recovered when the next match started. That was the first time AWG has worked an AJPW show since this working relationship began between NXT, AJPW, and NXT. If AWG can't manage to get themselves over in the next few shows AJPW needs to cut the partnership with AWG asap. They are in danger of losing that insanely hot live audience if the audience continues to be bored shitless like they were. The NXT audience will probably eat the AWG gimmick up since it is basically failed Japanese actresses sports entertaining their hearts out, and some of them are very very cute.

All in all a pretty solid night worth of wrestling. Tomorrow should be pretty good too.

Oh, and in lighter news Roman is ding dong diddley dabbing on Cody. Cody stacking them Ls.png

Roman vs. The Rock is the kind of hotshotting that Tony Khan would do.

I'm fucking tired of coconut nigger Roman and I'm tired of part timers coming in and doing one match.

Roman is about as talented as Nash (ie not at all and incredibly fucking lazy. I'm honestly surprised he hasn't torn his quads yet).

Rock is old and insufferable. It's not the attitude era and his schtick is tired.

Also, Seth is even more insufferable than the Rock, but I fucking do not want him to lose to Punk. That tranny loving cocksucker needs to go back to UFC to get his bell rung a few more times to have some sense knocked into him.

I gotta be honest, as much as I want Reigns to drop the fucking belts, I'm kinda excited to see if WWE follow through and have Reigns beat Hogans record, then drop the belts at next years Wrestlemania. They seem to have a real hard on for record breaking at this stage...

You are all a bunch of loser nerds. Workrate never made a star and stop using OG in any capacity, especially in fake fighting. The only thing separating you from reddit, is you don't pretend to like women's wrestling.

Some of you pretend to personally invested in who's champion, like you know the guy or it makes the most sense to the story. Wrestling angles never made sense and you ate it up your entire miserable lives. Vince knew you were dumb and would watch no matter what bullshit he put on TV. The more bullshit usually meant more viewers.

dont worry, they will 6ft under Reigns with the titles

Skipped through most of Worlds End. It was basically just an episode of Dynamite and Collision jammed together with the only thing of note being Joe winning and the Devil reveal that was telegraphed as fuck.

AEW needs a huge reset going into the new year because even OG fans like myself are starting to lose interest.
I'll still watch since my daughter still watches it but I'll focus more on Japanese and Mexico stuff as it's easier to find than European shows. When DEADLOCK Pro-Wrestling has more compelling shows and better swerves and reveals you've fucked up as a major wrestling promotion.

I love me some Samoa Joe, but the way he turns bright pink/red after going for five minutes is alarming. Bro needs to work on that cardio.
He's an Islander, all the men are known for that. I'm amazed that they didn't die marching to other tribes when they went to war. Women when they get to a certain age are no better with their people.
It's a work
He apparently resigned back in October so I'd agree.
Omega doing the Belt Collector run was the best championship reign in AEW.

It's even more remarkable when you discover he was being held together with athletic tape and a prayer.
Orange was doing alright as their Intercontinental champion but when he lost it and gained it back so quickly just killed that.

Rock will bury Romun and immediately get buried by Punk /retard

Coconut niggers being contained at the top has allowed far better stories and wrestlers to build on the rest of the card. So I'm fine with the Anoaias or however you spell their dumb name remaining in said containment zone. And the longer Gunther is kept away from Joe Leukemia the better

This is probably some of the whiniest drivel ever typed ITT. People care about belts because they are cool narrative props, and are often connected to webs of larger stories. It sounds like you just get worked a lot and are mad about the Coconut Nigger King.
Saying the PROP used to give reasons for matches to happen should appear on TV is whiny drivel? Man you must really be butthurt with me. It's so outlandish wanting belts to be used in story lines instead of sitting at home with a guy riddled with cancer.
Focus everything on becoming what you said you'd be; the alternative.
AEW wanted to be TNA and it failed. Indie wrestling is indie for a reason and there will never be a major company able to sustain it's self on smark money. The most popular wrestlers ever have all been brawlers with some technical skill. The Hardies, Edge and Christian and the other flippy shitters all sold less merch than the New Age Outlaws did. So at peak flippy manlet style ever, 2 faggots shit talking and doing silly dances out sold them. Too Cool were huge merch sellers and they made it a huge spot with a build up to do a top top leg drop. Jeff Hardy being the teenage girl's favourite flippy shitter was second to a comedy dancing gimmick at the industry peak.

If any promotion wants to grab public attention again it has to stop being a circus and start being story driven grounded fights. You can have your flippy midcarders but the main event has to be larger than life guys brawling and finding excuses to hit each other with weapons or in a cage during pay per views. Listening to smarks on twitter and trying to get the most viral wrestling gif alienates the entire audience outside of the social media bubble.

He pretty much burned his Hollywood connections after the dcu reboot. He had alot of backlash with the Maui grift so he's on pr rehab.
The only movie he's currently got slated for release is some holiday movie that was supposed to have come out in November last year but got pushed to November this year because of the strike. Doing a few TV appearances and then a ppv is a quick paycheck for the guy.
