If Phil backed out of just talking with turkey tom, I don't see the project ever coming out with the same format previously seen with boogie. People need to temper expectations.

Boogie wanted to look as miserable as he wanted and then some, thats the kind of narcissist he is. Phil, on the other hand, will take this as a opportunity to 'clear his name', he thinks he can lie his way out (face tank it like the tried with the SS interview) and maybe expand the cult.

But if you somehow make it @mikeclum , be sure to binge watch xmortis's a beggars journey on youtube as a start.

I'll throw in my two cents. It doesn't really matter if this is something we need or if Phil will back out, in the end it's either content or wasted effort. I'll repeat what I see other people here are saying: don't just rehash the same old backstories over again. There's tons of that already out there and serves no purpose if you don't do something different with the opportunity. If it were me, I'd spend as little energy on the past as possible, only touching on those things that are necessary background for an uninitiated viewer. Everyone who cares already knows, those who don't know can go somewhere else to find out. Phil's debunks ("that didn't happen") aren't going to change, they're already out there. Any "evidence" he might provide now is not going to be trustworthy.

You should instead focus on the questions, "what even is DSP now, and where is it even going?" Does Phil's claims of being the happiest he's even been and a success align with the realities of how he actually lives life? What kind of life does he truly live compared to the one he claims to live. A big thing for me is the "where is this going?" question. He's never really discussed it openly in a way that his current trajectory can be probed or challenged. Closest is that he had the 10 year plan when his parents made him confront the fact that his life isn't sustainable and that's been discarded at this point with covid being the convenient excuse. He appears to have literally no plan but "hope this keeps going" when it really and truly can't. Forcing him to confront the future might just give us something new and interesting. Especially since he doesn't appear to invest in anything, his business, his home, his health, his personal life, or his financial security.

From a detractor side of things, some insight into "why detract" might make for a good chapter. I think most other works in this area don't bother to answer that question or just let Phil's behavior speak for why, but there's a big anti-following to Phil and there's a lot of nuance that can be shared there beyond Null's preferred reasoning of "They're just jealous he makes money playing video games".

There is a detractor that has been making videos daily for almost a decade by the name of Snort Burnell.

Snort Burnell is a fascinating character due to their devotion to making these videos. Snort has probably watched more DSP than even his biggest fans.

Snort Burnell isn’t a personality really but just the most devoted of detractors. If you could get this person in a face to face or a video chat that would be super fascinating.

I think he's buttering DSP up but he's doing a poor job. You can't simply go from saying DSP is a very cool and professional guy to talking to detractors on their live stream and expecting DSP not to run If DSP doesn't ghost him Phils much more stupid than any of us can possibly imagine.

Like mike, I do agree that Phill have a great voice, is a professional, funny, creative and that's why he has long carrer in the streaming business.

It's worth noting that DSP banned several people tonight, just for mentioning Mike and the documentary. It looks like Mike revealed this project before Phil wanted him to, and now Phil is silently doing damage control. We'll see tomorrow whether or not this has forced Phil's hand.

My guess is Mike already has enough from Phil and is testing the waters to see how Phil now reacts to him reaching out to others. Anyone who has dealt with Phil before knows he's impossible to work with within seconds.

There are mad dictators who kill people who insult them or make them look bad who are less image conscious than Phil

Yep, he mentioned at the end of his stream just now that he's going to "address the thing that people were talking about in the chat tonight" on the prestream tomorrow, and that it's part of the "big things planned for 2024."

My wife and I both watched your Boogie documentary while neither of us really knew much of anything about him beyond his status as a lolcow. We were both aware of Francis mind you and still wish he was real. She thought it was quite sad, depressing and also mildly disturbing when it came to the relationship with his girlfriend. She has a good heart though wheras I still occasionally post here in the name of autofellatio and sharing tidbits of phil's antics with her for a chuckle.

I thought it was well made and appreciate someone actually making the effort to take on the role of investigator rather than just sitting at home going over secondhand stories. Some videos in this vein are well made but really most of them aren't worth watching

I mentioned my wife's reaction to the Boogie documentary because I figure the emotional hook is what you were hoping to sink into those who exist along the lolcow audience periphery. That and some form of morbid humanization of the subject and I say morbid because venturing into this territory as some sort of Louis Theroux of the lolcows means you have to be acutely aware of the sort of viewers you're trying to attract.

You have to be aware that the vast majority of potential viewers are only showing up to score more material they can mock phil over. Changing the hearts and minds of existing detractors probably isn't in the cards when it comes to DSP.

Trying to paint phil in a positive light is a fool's errand. Unless you play at being obtuse and allow him to take over as some sort of director which to be fair could result in a Spinal Tap of youtubers video.

On your own dime though I can't imagine why you'd want to hand over the keys to a guy who's crashed every car and burned every bridge he's come across when you've already done well with Boogie. In fact you should fully anticipate phil turning on you before you receive any invitation to his house since you already came here and it probably reads as instant betrayal in his mind.

You don't need a 30 hour crash course in TIHYDP or to talk to Tevin for 10 hours on stream to know that phil is pretty much reviled by 99% of the people who watch him regularly and he surely knows it. Phil Burnell has existed in a vacuum called Darksydephil for 15 years. This is why it's hard for people believe this documentary will happen at all and he isn't just giving you the run around.

The people worth talking to have washed their hands of him and moved on with their lives while he's forced himself to sit in the exact same spot that he started in. His most recent bright idea as a businessman is to exhume 10+ year old videogame playthroughs and upload them to a new channel in hopes of scoring extra subs.

If you've read the replies in this thread and are still reading right now then you've taken but a glimpse into the cyclone of autism that you're courting. Good luck.

Here's the clip. Phil's hand has been forced.

Mike kept saying how "cool" Phil was when talking to him in person and on video chats, etc. If he isn't already aware, Mike's about to find out how different Phil is face to face versus text/emails.
The fact that he was banning people for just mentioning the potential documentary shows that he's fuming over the fact that Mike announced it before he wanted. He loathes losing control of anything he thinks he has under wraps. There's no doubt in my mind that the second Phil finished his stream, he sent Mike one of his trademark strongly worded internet tough guy emails berating him, likely including a demand for an apology.
Hope you got your groveling pants on, Mike.

Phil’s control freak tendencies always have been one of the weirdest things about him.

Imagine getting pissed that people are “derailing” the stream by talking about him in a SLIGHTLY unapproved way.

This is why piggie never will be happy. He wants total control and assumes people are NPCs. They’re supposed to talk about what Phil wants WHEN Phil wants it, and anything else is bugged audience mechanics, dood!

Sorry but I don't see the point of this

Phil is boring as hell, even the most autistic people about him here take regular breaks just because it's the same thing over and over: lying to get money

After he made an ass of himself on Side Scrollers and turning down the $50k to be in Keem's podcast I wonder how you managed to have him agree to this

I'd only be interested in watching this if you went to his pig-mansion in person, but otherwise Turkey Tom's documentary covered just about everything "interesting" that happened to Phil

I request that you ask him the following:

1. Over the years you have gained a reputation as one of the most shameless and aggressive e-beggars out there,do you think your reputation as such is well deserved and if not why do you think people portray you as such?

2. You constantly cry poor yet you live in a 6 bedroom condo in one of the most expensive metropolitan areas in with nothing but another adult (your wife) while working exclusively from home;
given this do you not think it would be reasonable for you to move to a smaller and cheaper place located somewhere less expensive in order to ameliorate your financial woes?

3. While you're not asked to provide details about your finances, most detractors who follow you estimate that your gross annual income is at least 100.000 USD.
Given the fact that you have no dependants and the only person living with you is your adult and body-able wife, why do claim you live in poverty when you should be doing pretty well financially given your income?

Phil spent the second half of tonight's Daily Wrap teasing the reveal of his involvement with Mike's documentary, on tomorrow's podcast.

( 3:27 )

Phil says that this [the documentary] is not something that he was trying to keep a secret, which is a wild thing to say, when he was literally banning people for even bringing it up just a few hours ago, and he's only begun this song and dance about it, after it was revealed here, and people brought it to his chat, and forced his hand. If that's not a secret, I dont know what is.

He continues on, and says that this is something he's been involved with for months. Phil says that he has not spoken about it, because "we had to get to the point where it made sense to start talking about it." That point, apparently, is the very next stream after Phil has found out that this news has been spread around, without his knowledge.

Phil says that he will give us as much information as he is "legally able to" which obviously implies some sort of contract or legal agreement, which he then doubles down on by saying" Yes! It's actually that serious!" while he grins through his fucking teeth. If anything, this statement reflects poorly on Phil, because it means that, if he and Mike actually did come to some sort of legal agreement or contract, these matters obviously would have been discussed over the phone, which is the exact reason why Phil claims that he avoided Keemstar's offer - because Keemstar wanted to talk business on the phone.

Phil claims that this documentary will not have anything to do with drama. He says "If ever there was going to be something different, this is going to be it."

He then says that he will not tell us everything, because he doesn't want to "spill the beans" even though he just said that he will tell us everything he legally can, 60 seconds before.

Phil says that there will be many different things happening this year that will affect his regular viewers, and the schedule of his streams. This notion, affecting Phil's viewers, was the exact reason why Phil says he stayed out of drama shit for the entire last year. (He didn't obviously, but this is his claim.) Phil now, apparently has no qualms at all with affecting his regular viewers.

This retcon is crazy. It wasn't even a month ago when Phil was still preaching that he stays out of shit, all for the sake of his viewers, but now? Too fucking bad.
