This is also why he's a communist. His personal anxieties about all these things and relationship to them means he thinks everyone thinks the same way as he does so when he hears trite anti-capitalist nonsense it makes sense to him and he thinks it would make sense to everyone if they just heard it. He doesn't realize the "oppression" is entirely of his own making and therefore also doesn't understand why the "liberation" he demands for everyone would be oppression to everyone else. He considers the lack of outside validation he receives for purely existing to be a gross injustice against him personally, thus the entire "system" must be inherently flawed and need to be reworked from scratch to validate him at all times. Everyone else is irrelevant because as long as Kevin is not validated at all times he feels "oppressed" and everyone else is therefore tasked with a duty to "liberate" him when the only way to truly liberate him from what he, and solely he, perceives is to kill him.
He doesn't feel truly fulfilled by those Hasbro things which is why he has to keep buying more and let them sit on the shelf ignored, but if he drifts into ways of potentially being actually fulfilled it feels too "adult" and he has to reflexively reject that out of fear of not meeting standards he projects onto everyone else. It's entirely logical then for him to regress into childhood as the place free from any responsibility, the problem is that he also wants cooming not just consoomering and sex is "adult", which requires the construction of a helpless slut with no responsibilities persona. Luckily for Kevin this is what he thinks about women and the never ending treadmill of "transition" is sitting right there just like communism.

Another reason many of these people haven't woken up is because many of these people completely trust in institutions like academia, the scientific establishment, the liberal establishment, and the mainstream media. Waking up to trans ideology means realizing that all these institutions have been engaging in a coordinated campaign of censorship, suppression of information, and dishonesty, so you can't trust them anymore. This can be very distressing for these types of liberals, so it's easier for them to hold on to their false image of trannies than have that rude awakening about the establishment.
As much as Kevin doesn't want to grow up, he is very grown up in that he has lost the childlike curiosity and creativity that give these toys meaning. Everything he does is in the service of getting dopamine, so he spends all his time on things that bring quick, easy dopamine like porn, video games, and social media. He only buys this stuff because buying it and posting about it brings him dopamine, so this is more shopping addiction, social media addiction, and compulsive hoarding than a genuine passion.
