As much as people here might like to just say "Oh lol Ethan is Jewish that's why he's famous!" there are legitimate reasons he got so popular
- Before he got his massive ego he was actually a pretty likable and funny guy his old reaction videos are still pretty good
- He was fantastic at networking (high verbal IQ moment) and getting larger Youtubers to collaborate with him. This includes people as large as Pewdiepie at his peak of popularity
- He was in the very last generation of Youtubers who could be openly edgy without being deplatformed by Youtube
- People found his power couple dynamic with Hila endearing

Maybe he meant to ask why it's still successful? I used to watch Ethan and you summed up the reasons very well, I stopped when the podcast started because he abandoned his comedy content entirely and the quality fell off a cliff basically in an instant. Then Ethan began acting prickly and slimy and I couldn't bear to watch that shit anymore.

A serious answer:
He was lucky, carved out a good niche in a market of mediocrity, by being a little better than mediocre.
He built up a lot of good will by standing up for the smaller guy, and going against obviously flawed mainstream narratives (vidya cause voilance etc.)
He was successful but seen as humble, just like the average man.
So what changed?
He exposed himself as a spineless grifting rat.
He started to flaunt his wealth in the faces of people, much to the dismay of his older fans that helped him succeed.
He became egotistical, much like how fat he is; he thought people followed him, for him, not for the content.
He started to walk back a lot of his criticisms of the narrative (tm) in favour of stinkditch and leftist grift.
He is a fat diaper wearing kike.
Now:
Despite trying to align himself with leftists, he's still in full support of Israel.
This means he's now disliked by all sides, left right and centre, and all over the isle.

Disagree with Altistic right on him flaunting his wealth he never really did that. I can't remember a time he was showing off watches, sports cars or even his mansion. Pretty sure he even got furious when people discovered he was living in a mansion. It was more his ego getting completely out of control and his wealth caused him to become less relatable. In his older Israel videos he was literally selling weed out of his apartment to pay rent. By the time he had the podcast he was getting 50k ad spots and never had to worry about money again.

I agree with what you said mostly, but I have to make a correction. It was when they were living in Santa Cruz shortly after Hila moved to the US for the first time that they started selling weed, not when they were in Israel. Their Youtube channel came after the "drug dealer" arc when they ended up moving back to Israel anyways. Also on a side note I swear I remember them saying they either sold all the weed in one go or never sold it. As well as that was the only time they ever bought weed with the intent of selling. People like to saying they were "drug dealers" but I swear it was more like they sold weed once, and they dramatized it to make it seem like they were in dire straits. I'm pretty sure Ethan had a bachelor's degree at that point, he had no excuse to not be making money somehow.

His last video came out a month ago and he said he'd post about a week later. Ethan has apparently been in trouble with YouTube since last year for saying Ben Shapiro should be gassed and he uploads regularly on piped.video instead.

I think these views are fake. While I'm sure his audience of obsessed Twitter commies have not abandoned him, there's no way he's getting as many views as he was getting when he was allowed on YouTube. Also, he wouldn't have to pay so many e-celebs to appear on this pretend award show if he wasn't in need of exposure.
He is currently on a break, so his grift is not yet over. At the very least the YouTube algorithm won't show me his fat face anymore which is a massive win in my opinion. As he has enough friends in high places, then he will survive and possibly even thrive.

Part of the reason Jake made this video was because he grew up with lyme disease and felt like Ethan was taking advantage of his audience by misleading them, as fans donated to support Ethan for his supposed false diagnosis. He also goes on to assert that Ethan trivializes the struggles that everyday people who suffer from lupus go through, and even tried to shame Ethan for being wealthy and able to afford good healthcare.
The video came out right before Ethan and his crew took a Holiday break, so as they were returning, Ethan posted a photo of Jake to an Instagram story, saying how he was looking forward to returning to the podcast. Jake, who had gotten quite a bit of backlash for his pathetic callout video, was really beginning to crumble under the pressure:
And once the podcast episode went live, Ethan revealed that Jake was not only claiming to be a massive (seemingly disgruntled) H3 fan, but had also tried to collaborate with other crew members of the podcast by sliding into their dms + even sent in his resume to apply for a job with them in exchange for exposure or experience.
